40% CPU - what's it doing?

Can anyone explain to me why Object Bar should take 40% CPU when its only function is to provide virtual desktops, and I'm spending pretty well ALL my time in one desktop?

I take it that you set up an Object Bar just to give you quick links to your virtual desktops? How many desktops did you set up? Change the number to see if your CPU usage changes.

Funny, I thought I had posted a reply, but it's not here.

First I apologized for incomplete information. It was only on November 21st that I noticed the 40% utilization. As far as I know, it has never done this before, and normally runs at an insignificant CPU usage (less than 0.5%), although I have had problems now and again with it hanging. Stopping the dock and starting it again appeared to clear it.

Zubaz: I'm not sure that I know how to do that.
