fonts making tab and toolbar button distort

ive solved this problem before by finding a post about it here in the forums, but of course i cant find it now to save myself.

For some reason when i apply font to my tab button, it distorts it.  same with toolbarbutton.  If i remember correctly, the best way to solve this was delete all the preset fonts and reinstall them.  do i also delete installed fonts, and fonts from my skin, and reinstall the whole lot?  also, do i install the fonts first before i apply the settings to individual buttons, or is it the other way around? 

im pretty agro at myself for not knowing this by now.......

Have you tried making the fonts smaller? any font at too large a size will distort a button.

ill try that John.......( i did try other fonts and they worked okay.....i guess im just picky about my font.......)
