animation doesn't start with vista startup

Hi everyone,

I've just downloaded the most recent version of stardock and it works great, but for some reason, the animation doesn't start with vista. I have to select a different dream file, then re-select the previous, to get it to work, although the static pic of the beginning of the vid. is showing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
ED

I am a little confused. Stardock is the company, however we have many titles to download. I am assuming you mean is Deskscapes. If you have a lower end video card or so many processes that your computer bogs down Vista will pause your Dream. However you can right click on the desktop and hit play again. Please let me know if this isn't what you were meaning.

Hi,

I just want top confirm the same problem. I run Vista with WindowBlinds 6 and Deskscapes 2. Upon startup, WindowBlinds goes first and changes the Aero scheme to my chosen WindowBlinds skin. Then, Deskscapes tries to load my chosen Dream animated wallpaper and detects no Aero scheme, thus kicks out an error.

I'm not sure Stardock ran full product testing with both these products installed on the same machine. I suppose you could try to change boot order and let Dreamscapes go first, but really, both products should behave with each other.

I updated this info to the developers.

Having an issue sort of similar to this myself. The animated wallpapers play fine when I 'start' Vista but if the machine goes into hibernate, when it wakes up, the animations will not play on their own. I am forced to go to the customize menu and re-select the wallpaper I want to show. Don't know if this is something akin to the issue described above or not but thought I would put this here.

I also have the same issue, though it doesn't kick out an error.

I have Vista X64 Business. The WMV dreams work, but after a restart, they will start playing for about 3 seconds and then stop... and I have to click on them again in the dreamscene selection page and it starts back up and works again until I restart my computer. No amount of "pause dream" and "restart dream" with the right click menu on the desktop brings it back to life. I must go to the dream selection page and click on it.

I also have windowblinds 6 installed.

If we discover a quick fix for all then we will post it publicly.

However the developers are currently working on the most posted beta. It is likely that a update will be available soon.

I too have just bought and installed descapes on my Vista Home PC (with objectdock plus running). When I reboot, the dreamscape is there but not 'running' so I have to fire up a new dream, then fire up the original to get it moving again.

All,

Please update to version 2.00 tomorrow and check out this troubleshooting guide.  If you are having problems with videos it is probably due to some other video codec getting in the way that is not compatible with DeskScapes.
