Log Off - Turn off computer text removal

I'm hoping someone could tell me how to remove the Log off and Turn off computer text so I can just have the icon. I am editing xp-cristalediton by avid skin. The problem is that the text is there, so it doesn't fit.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you are talking about the End Session dialogs:

Load the skin in SKS & go to the Attribute Section for the Logoff & Shutdown Dialog Backgrounds. There is a setting for "Text Visibility" which you can set to hide the text (click on the Attribute, select the setting from the dropdown list that shows in the lower pane of SKS5 - not sure exactly where the attribute resides in SKS6). You'll need to do this for both images (Shutdown & Logoff).

If you're talking about the StartPanel BottomBar, I'd look for a skin which has the text hidden, load it in SKS & see how it was designed - I don't recall exactly which of the images you need to edit to "hide" that text.

Thanks for your reply.

I was talking about the bottom bar of the start panel, and I did have a look at some other skins to see how they go, but it seems that because I have XP, I can't get rid of the text. Particularly Nuage Redux. It has a XP and Vista skin, I tried loading the Vista skin, but the text was still visible.

For the Log Off and Shut down screens however it is possible to get rid of the text.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get hide the text in the bottom bar using another program?

If you can change the text, just change it to a bunch of spaces (spacebar). That way there will not be any text showing.

The best you can do is in SkinStudio, set the text color for bottom bar to match the bottom bar or the button background color. This works best on skins that have a solid color for these.

There is a patch, which if you apply will get rid of the text altogether, I did try it once. I didn't like it, so I re-patch. If you interested, check this one out.. <WWW Link> or google for it .

Be reminded tho, patch at your own risk

- yes I would agree, this is the only way that I know of to remove the text from the bottom of the start panel for those options. But be cautious of this, I am personally always wary of patches that are required to perform this type of function - there is no guarantee of system stability/performance after installing this patch.

Good Luck, let us know how this works out.

This worked very well, the patch I mean. I have read some post saying that when the computer restarts the text returns. I am watching the cricket at the moment, so when that finishes I will restart and let you all know how it goes.

I have made a back up of explorer just incase.

I started the computer up again, and the text is still gone. It worked very well.

Thanks everyone for you suggestions and help. Very much appreciated.
