am new member and can not get window blinds 6 to install, had trial version that worked perfectly, then bought object desktop, installed everything. rebooted and window blinds 6 would not work, uninstalled wb6 re-installed wb6 rebooted still not installed, have done this about 6 times and the same message comes up to reboot, what can i do about it, also not very good at computers so could someone take me through it step by step. thank you so much.

Turn off any anti-virus software and try again.

Are you on XP or on Visa? If on Vista I know how to solve this problem.

Well! Try to make this step by step:

1. Copy (or move) all of your installed skins to any temporary folder.
2. Agree with Zubaz. Turn off your anti-virus software, Windows Firewall, Windows Defender, etc...
3. Uninstall WindowBlinds and restart the computer.
4. Download and install WindowBlinds 5 through Stardock Central, activate it and coppy all of your skins to the WindowBlinds folder.
5. Restart the computer and try to apply any of your skins. If it works unload the WIndowBlinds. Now you may download and install the WindowBlinds 6.0. Do this and activate the program. After that all must be okay.
6. Turn on your protection software.

did what you said 1-4, 5 did not try it out (apply any skins)hav managed to archive all except wb6 and icon packager, that because these do not work, yet they do on trial and have 17 days left of the trial. ps uninstall before downloading the trials on both items, if this makes sence to you. sorry if it does not.

try this here and see what happens...
1. turn off the user account control - control panel\useraccounts\ - you will see it at the bottom uncheck it. then restart the computer.
2. uninstall both trial and/or wb program you have installed completely.
3. open program files/stardock/objectdesktop/ and delete the folder for windowblinds there. Do make a backup of your wb's to a folder in another place other than in the program files.
4. do this to get rid of temp files go start and run from start menu. in run type %temp% and say ok. when the folder opens delete everything there as this crtl+a ... what does not delete then just leave it.
5. open c: drive go to windows/prefetch folder and do the same as with temp folder delete all ctrl+a and close the folder. restart your computer and then go to sdc and reinstall wb again. That should work unless you have something turned on that is blocking the install.
Be sure the firewall and anti-virus is off and that there is no spyware program running.

the other thing that can fool with the download of the program is the internet options for IE7. Be sure you set the security to the default levels for all zones in internet options. this can be found in tools for IE7 or in the control panel.

no, has not worked. Has installed, but will not run. all i get is a window with about 3 choices and a sort of half clear window ie the 3 choices then if you put cursor over apply settings it disappears. Then half of it is clear half is a sort of black and white and cursor disappears if you go over the area, some will respond while others will not respond if clicked on. must be 3rd party application/s, too tedious to go through everyone of them. what do you think.

yes have tried link of no.10 reply and everything else,thecomputer seems to download everything but for some reason does not allow to run the things, just do not know enough about computers and feel this could get really complicated, yet have a simple answer.have been fooling around and it works partly ie. i can click on things whereas i could not before plus i do not get the reboot message, but it only partly works.

i now have on wb6 a new message which is wb has stopped working, anyone know about this sort of message.
