Battle Command Ship

in TA i found another use for cargo hulls... with the new components using a cargo hull adding weapons, shields, reinforced hull points(new +5hps), battle command module(new +25% to attack for first round), and warp field bubbles(new +1,2,3 to fleet speed depending on researched tech) to create my Battle command ship. its not a potent attack ship but it does it job coordinating my small hulled ships into a deadly attack fleet. (just an example playing as the terrans at war with the drengin whom has photon torpedos II a much stronger than my plasma 3, but with logistics at 16 and drengin only at 9, my fleets have been rolling over the drengin since the addition of my Battle Command Ships to the fleets, i win 90% of battles(not untouched though mind you i usally have to replace the battle command ship after 2 battles but the other ships hold up much longer as long as the battle command ship is replaced quickly!

if you don't add wepons or defensises it will not be attacked until all other ships are destroyed.

I'm already loving how I can build carrier type support craft to amplify my fleets. Another tactic to try is placing a warp bubble on a tiny hull and cramming one of them into your fleets. These tiny "jumpships" barely make a logistical dent, but do wonders for making your fleets move at a reasonable pace!

I'm not sure about that. Here's what one of the devs (CodeCritter) said in another thread:

The targeting system for fleet battles has been modified slightly so that ships with the new modules are preferred over a ship that has the same stats minus the new module. The targeting system has not been finalized yet so we may change this.

We don't know yet if that stacks, or how... i.e. does the chance of being targeted increase even more, as you add more fleet modules to a "command" ship?

I do like the idea that there is at least some targeting priority for these new modules. No intelligent enemy commander would fail to target a fleet's main command and control ship at some point in the battle. It might not be the first target, but it wouldn't be the last one targeted.

I guess another question is whether all fleet modules are targeted with the same priority, or does it vary with the module? A Warp Bubble would be a lower priority once the engagement begins, than something affecting fleet firepower.

Weaponless ships still aren't targeted over the ships in their fleet. You would have to be using REALLY weak ships for that to happen, and at that point the carrier is useless anyways.
