Magic Weather

StardockWeather.ocx not registered

I am getting this error when I try to run Magic Weather, part of the nifty Magic Desktop suite. (Are you guys courting Disney now!

Is it something wrong with the suite, or Desktop X Pro? Thanks for any information you can give me.

Try downloading this file to your desktop:

http://sd.stardock.com/mike/apps/install_weather.bat

Then just run it and follow the instructions:

  1. Download the file it gives you into the C:\Program Files\Common Files directory
  2. Press enter a few times
  3. Click OK on the dll register prompt

At this point, the weather gadget should be running properly.

Hmm, was all excited until...
1. I couldn't save to the file location, so saved the ocx file and then moved it, (I like the response that it found it btw! )
2. I get the following error now:
[Window Title]
RegSvr32

[Content]
The module "C:\Program Files\Common Files\StardockWeather.ocx" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x80040200.

For more information about this problem, search online using the error code as a search term.

[OK]

I tried putting it into the \Common Files\Stardock folder and running the .bat again, but still get the same error.

I am running Avast, but don't see anything in the logs about preventing it from running, and (in a whisper) I'm running Vista. I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

And thanks for getting back to me on this btw, that's one of the things I love about Stardock. I know lots of people get uptight about customer service issues, but I have yet to have a problem with Stardock.

Okay, tried one more thing, just off of a whim. I uninstalled and re-installed DX Pro and re-ran the .bat file, but that didn't work either.
