Help with Desktopx, W98 and widgets

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but it seemed the most adequate to me.
I've installed DesktopX 2.0 in a PC running W98SE. It works fine, but when I try to install a widget the installation tells me that "DesktopX does not seem to be installed". I downloaded a widget that hadn't been updated since 2004, to try to avoid compatibility issues between current versions and mine, but the same thing happened. Any idea of what may be happening?

I don't really know how that would work. Since all the wigits and gargets will be made with the newest software you are going to have compatibility issues no matter what. We don't even have any test machines with 98 on them in support so I can't find an accurate test for you. My apologies.
