hidden/undocumented Korx superability?

it seems they get a free, though limited Galactic Privateer from the start

Hi,

I don't know if this is a feature and actually I might be wrong but it seems that when I play the Korx and before I build the Galactic Privateer, whenever an AI declares war and destroys a mini freighter of mine on a trade route, the trade route isn't interrupted and the mini freighter restarts automatically from my home planet. Only when they destroy my mini freighter for the second time the trade route is gone.
This looks exactly like the behaviour of the Galactic Privateer, only that it works just once for each mini freighter.
I have to do some further testing but I'm almost certain.
Anyone else noticed this or is this documented somewhere?

Thanks

As far as I know, you have to lose 2 ships on the same route to have it cancel in most cases.

Things to consider:

1. Do you have 2 freighters that follow the same path? 1 is destroyed and you are still seeing the "greyish" flightpath of the second freighter.

2. Is the AI destroying a frieghter of ANOTHER civ, likely a minor, that has an end destination of your planet, so you get the message "we regret to inform you blah blah blah", but when you check your econ page your frieghter is still active.

3. (most unlikely) Your freighter is armed and won the battle, thus continuing on its flightpath.

I think this is the case as well.

The Galactic Privateer doesn't just protect your freighters on a trade route twice, it protects them indefinitely. One of the funniest things I've ever seen in a DL game was an attempt by an Altarian squadron to kill one of my freighters. The Altarians tried to attack my freighter five (5) turns in a row before they finally gave up and went off on another mission.

Not so funny was (is) the bug that enemy ships will continue to stalk your freighters indefinately if you built the Privateer.

In the DL campaign, i noticed fleeted Dreadlord ships could still kill my freighters despite owning the Galactic Privateer. Unfleeted Dreadlord ships however, could not.

Piznit,

I double checked and I had only 1 mini freighter on that route and it was definitely mine; I'm sure it was mine because noone else was at war at the time.

So I'm still puzzeled by this thing: the mini freighter is regenerated the first time an enemy AI destroys it and the trade route isn't gone. When it's destroyed for the second time the route is gone.

And that's before I build the Galactic Privateer.

So is it supposed to work this way for the Korx?

Iceciro, what do you exactly mean by that?

Yes, and it works the same way for any other race.

The trade route (meaning: the mini freighter) has to be attacked and defeated twice before the route is canceled. If you have the privateer, the mini freighters will become invincible.

I can confirm this is how it works. for all civs

I guess the logic is that the private businesses who run the trade routes are willing to take a risk in order to maintain the income, but if 2 freighters are lost too close together, then it is obviously too risky and they won't participate anymore, thus ending the trade route until you can safely re-establish it.

Interesting, I never knew it had to be attacked twice. I never paid much attention to it I guess
