UN votes, share tech, WHAT?

So i have a nice tech advantage over my rivals. I declare war on one of the civs and launch an invasion. Alls going good till the UN convenes and votes (against my will) to share ALL technology amongst ALL races. WHAT! How can this even come to a vote? Its single handedly the dumbest thing ive ever heard! NO ONE would EVER do that!

You realize you always have the option of leaving the UP, right? If you think the vote's going to go badly, and keeping the tech lead matters that much to you, the "Leave UP" button is right on the screen.

Leaving the UP isn't really much of an option, since you immediately lose all of your trade income. This wouldn't be as big a deal if production of everything in your empire wasn't based off of how much money you were taking in. As it stands now, though, I would bet he's better off staying in the UP, keeping the trade, and rebuilding his tech lead.

Try working on a non-trade based empire an you can easily leave the UP without consequence. Focus on military production and monopolize economy boosting resources. Worked for me. ;)

In fact, I always go for the green (economy boosting)resources first. The other ones I don`t really care about. Sometimes it is nice to get the morale resource or research one, but if your economy is strong you can buy tech.

Actually, the so-called "stupidity" of the United Planets makes PERFECT sense. Look at the United Nations we have in our own world today. Look at how many f*cking STUPID-ASS decisions they've made. Consider the fact that Libya is the "head" of the council for "Human Rights" (LOL). Yes, organizations like the UN and NATO have many many stupid aspects and you only need to do half an hour of research to find that out. It only makes sense for the United Planets to "piss you off" by making decisions that hurt you.

just reload from your last autosave file. You do reduce the auto sve to every 4-5 turns don't you! I hate this vote so much that I always reload if it appears. It just removes the fun from the game.
