Reeeely tiny icons

A noob question

I think I should be able to drag icons from my Vista desktop to the Object Bar tabs..right? But when I do, they shrink down to about 1/8" square. The title reads on mouseover, and the launch works, but what am I missing about "translating" the icons at a reasonable size? Thanks for any help.

In OB, after dragging the icon, right click and choose properties.
At teh top of the form click the "Change Icon" button.
Choose a new size.

Thanks Sir Zubaz.....however....
The Vista icons seem to have been "improved". One can right click on the desktop, choose "view" and set one of three icons sizes. The change applies to all icons. The icons engineered for Vista then drag successfully, and keep their chosen size. On the other hand, while icons that arrived from third-party installations can be sized up and down on the desktop, once they are dragged to OB they shrink, and right-clicking them brings up a dialog box that does not have an option for changing either icon or size.
I assume you may be working from another version of Windows? I always was a bleeding-edge type person. Guess I've just got to pay for it now
Thanks again. (p.s. I can send screen caps if you're interested).

I use Vista business and OB2.

When I drag any size icon to my bar it is resized to 16x16.

Takea look at my screenshot . . let's see yours.

Wow, thanks for the prompt reply.
I'm sorry, but I took a screenshot with PrintScreen and resized it in Paint, then I couldn't figure out how to attatch it here. Perhaps you could enlighten me.

Looking at your screenshot, I don't recognize the left-most dialogue box as something I can launch. I am using Object Dock Plus standalone. Do I need some other add-on or app? What (where?) did you click to open the left hand dialog? I can understand all the other dialogs. It seems like I'm not getting launched properly.

Thanks again for your help and your patience. I don't think of my self as a computer noob in general, but I surely am with ObjectDock. I like it so well I want to keep at it until I master it.

<---- you did say "Object Bar" and not ObjectDock Plus and the posting is in the ObjectBar forum. Two different programs.

I use http:imageshack.us to upload my images and then I use the little image icon in this for to paste the path.

If you want bigger icons in ObjectDock Plus richt click, goto Dock settings, then the Size & Appearence section and slide the top slider to the right.

Hankers: Sorry, I'll move out of this forum.
Zubaz:Here (I think) are 2 shots of my desktop. When I use the Size and Appearance slider it just enlarges the whole dock, not the icon. BTW Zubaz, you are a saint for pursuing this. I apologize for my clumsiness in using the wrong forum. I hope this post might solve things, then I'll get out of your face.

No need as you are getting assistance here. The help you were receiving was for ObjectBar as that was what you had initially mentioned you had issues with and the forum post is in the ObjecBar section which made it appear that was the program you needed assistance with.

Have you tried changing the Tabs & Styles and selecting a different tabbed style to see if there is any improvement?

Kupana . .. the second image shows the "Dock Entry Properties".  You want the "DockSettings".

See Screenshot below:

My bad choice of dialogues to show. I had used the Dock Settings box to try and change icon size with the slider. Note the change in size of the upper dock from my first to my second screenshot. That's all that the slider did. I included the Entry Properties dialog to show the size of the icon relative to the normal size provided for in the box where the icon is shown. Also compare the icon size for Bookworm with the other small icons adjacent on the top dock and the normal icons on the desktop at the left.
Looking at your screenshots, maybe I have an idea. On your docks do you use any icons that are native to the applications or is everything a custom built icon? Is it possible that only the Stardock-type icons work with OD?

From what I see here it is that the icon format you are using is wrong size for a Vista Icon.
Most Vista icons are 256x256 ...
Yours seem to be small

Try not to use not icons or ico files with small formats. Instead open the icon with like icon developer and export the icon to an image file and then you can edit the image to the correct size to be used in Objectdock. A good size is 256x256 and will give you clean images in your dock as this here

Yours the image is small and there is a lot of border area that is being used for blank area or space giving you a smaller than you want image. Fill the area and get a larger image to make things look as they do with what I have here.

I hope this helps...

On ohter tabs I have non-Stardock provided icons.  In fact, most of my links (and associated icons) were created by dragging *.exe or shortcuts to the dock.  Icons were sized as seen.

Try  to go to the Dock Entry Properties and click the Reset Image button at the bottom . .see how that looks.  If it's still off, click the Change Icon and try any one of the Icons in the Bundled Image library.  See what that does. Lastly, click on the browse button at the bottom of the library and browse to the icon for the application.  If there is no ico or png or jpg that fits, change the dialog from images to all files and select the exe.

I hope one of those works . . I'm running out of ideas.

If one of the Stardock icons work but nothing else does, you can request a icon be created by the community here if it doesn't already exist in the gallery (sample).

A final word for now: Thanks!

My conclusion is that the "problem" programs never contained a Vista-sized icon. It looks to me like I'll have to go shop the icon makers and maybe learn to fashion some of my own icons.

To everyone and particularly to Zubaz, Aloha nui loa (A very big Aloha)...I live in Hawaii
