how do you convert ships from other games

I was wondering if anybody new how to convert ships from another game because I would like to see ships like in space empires 5,and other space games.Because on the other post that I read people said that they converted ships from other games.Because I just doin't have the time to make custom ships.It would help out a lot.thanks

You need a program like 3d max or gmax and the x file exporter and perhaps the importer for the file type that the orginal file is. There is also a tutoral over at the i mod site that gives more details i believe.

I'm not a modder, son, but I think I can say with reasonable confidence that if you do not have the time or patience to create custom ships with the in-game Shipyard (presuming that's what you meant), you SOOO do not have the time or patience to get into the process of importing models from other games. Not to mention tweaking them up to work decently.
