Where are my buttons???

I need a little help...I'm a total n00b at this, never ever done it before but I wanted to make my own skin, so I fired up skinstudio (I did pay for it, might as well use it) and got to work. Everything is coming together (will definitely need some polish), but I can't get my close/maximize/minimize buttons(I made some, they're kind of crap and need to be reworked, but they should be good for now) to appear on the bar. I wanna be able to apply my skin while I work through it, it provides inspiration for other aspects of it and helps me to better visualize what something will look like in it before I go and do it, but it does me no good because I can't close windows when I'm done with them (I can alt-f4 of course, but it detracts from the experience, I feel). So....if anyone has any ideas on why these buttons don't appear on my bar, PLEASE let me know. I have skinstudio professional 5 and 6, if that helps at all. Thanks!
