Is there a way to:

Block a particular wincustomize user's post from appearing like on other forums? No particular reason, just don't want to read the bable that comes out of their mouth and would be happier if I never saw their posts.

What you are asking for is censorship, right?

I'm not so sure you will fine anyone here wanting to agree with that. Whether we like it not people are entitled to their opinions.

That's not to say that people who use inappropriate language in the forums should be exiled.

So is the bable you don't like just opinion or inappropriate language?

You ask a question, then you say "No particular reason". Generally speaking, a question is asked for reasons. Is the poster repling to your posts or all posts with the bable?

Oops, I wonder if I'm one of the bable speaking posters.

If you are being harassed, let a moderator know.
If you are irritated, try to get Po' Smedly or Skinhit involved; they have a way of driving people away.

Otherwise, do what I do, once I identify a post is from a particular user (thank goodness for avatars!) I invoke the magic scroll-wheel and move down.

I'm not asking for censorship, I'm asking is there a way to block MY COMPUTER from pulling up posts by a certain individual. All other forums I belong to allow a user to block another users forum posts from MY COMPUTER only. Maybe block is the wrong word, the correct one on the other forums I am talking about is IGNORE, where if a user is set to IGNORE, no posts from that particular user will appear when you open the forums.
Nevermind, Christ, it's like I was asking to take your first born child.

Calebrot, I was way to quick in responding to your original post, I apologize.

When the word IGNORE is used it puts it in a whole new light. If other forums do it setting it up should be possible.

Somehow though I don't think the powers to be here would be willing to do that.

NP, OK Thanks, I'll just use my scroll wheel like suggested. And no you are not one of the babbling speakers, just someone that is constantly speaking politically and gets under my skin with their comments, so I would prefer not to see their posts at all, afterall this is a forum on computer apps not politics. Politics has it's time and place and this isn't the place, I belong to enough political forums where I get my fill and don't need chastising comments towards my personal beliefs on a computer forum.

Calebrot I fully appreciate what you are saying. I too find some of the threads sometimes out of place. A couple of times I even posted the reply "And why should I care". That really didn't help at all. Know, sometimes I read those posts but never reply. I just can't stand contributing to someone's 15 minutes of fame.

Have a nice weekend.

Stardock's various websites have crossover/connection between their respective forums so sometimes, for example a politically-based thread may appear from Joe User on the Wincustomize forums, etc.  The best way to ignore those is to not click on them.

Generally speaking, selective miopia is a greater negative than 'enduring' the occasional undesired thread/comment.

It's akin to a skinner only wanting to see/have 'good' comments on their work.  It's unnaturally biased and misrepresentational.

What we DO handle, however is the particularly vindictive/personal attack in any form of comment.  If someone habitually comments thus his access is 'modified', either to lose posting privileges or any form of access to the site/s at all.

That determination, however is down to the site Admins/moderators, not to the individual.

Open public forums need to be just that.  Censoring through revision/filter ultimately throws out the baby with the bath water as far as community interaction goes....

Like I said, i belong to plenty of PUBLIC forum's that have the ability to IGNORE a particular user so their posts don't show up on the person that sets the IGNORE computer, but show up on everyone else.

You need one of these....

It's the new iTantalus device. One push of the button and the party in question is vaporized from existence. Unfortunately, I think FuzzyLogic has the only one and he's a greedy SOB with it and refuses to share any...uh-oh...is that Fuzzy now? Oh, hey Fuz...Laser Beam
