Updating game

Alright, my patience here is getting utterly exhausted. I have gone through the ludicrous system of serial numbers - being emailed new serial numbers for the collection edition, re entering serial numbers, downloading some stardock program, updating said program, and attempting to register Gal Civ 2. It is informing me when I attempt to do so that neither the serial number off the case, or the one e-mailed to me due to whatever rubbish is going on due to the collectors edition is valid.

All I want to do is patch the wretched game so it doesn't crash every ten minutes. I am not happy about having to jump through all these stupid hoops to do so. Now I have done so, and the stupid thing still doesn't work, I have had enough. HOW CAN I GET THIS PoS PATCHED?

I have never seen a game which required such a rigmarole just to get basic patches. It is downright pathetic. The idiots who made this could take a leaf from the book of the makers of Civ 4. You just click the update game button and... amazingly it updates! It den't ask you repeatedly for information, intall dditional programs, mess around with e-mails and extra serial numbers, and then not bloody work at the end of it!

Has anyone got a solution before I return this garbage?

What exactly is the error message you're given? Also, does the serial you're trying to use begin with GC2-, or is it 28 characters with no dashes, or is it some other format?

I'm totally with you on this one Mr. Cynical. I have never in my life been so thouroughly disgusted with a software purchase. The game itself is absolutely great, but the service and support provided by stardock is nothing short of infuriating. I am sick of this fly by night company treating me like I tried to rip them off or something. Why should we as paying customers have to jump through hoops just to get a game running. I purchased Dark Avatar 3 days ago, and I have yet to see it run. It will not activate no matter what I try. I have used every stinking serial number that I can find. The ones with dashes, the ones with no dashes, the ones that are 30 characters, the ones that are 28 characters. None of it makes a lousy bit of difference. It's amazing though because this poor excuse for a company was able to accept my paypal payment without even a hint of trouble. Yet for some reason, the game that I paid for will not acitvate due to either not being able to connect to the stupid server or because this number or that number does not match. This needs fixed and it needs fixed NOW. There is no excuse for treating paying customers like this.
