Getting a Mac

Macnitosh

I'm getting a Mac Laptop but I don't know what to get and I don't know what software to use. So I'm clueless here.

You would be better served to look at what you need to do and work back to what you need.  The hardware and OS should support whatever software you need to accomplish what you need to do.

The OSX OS is nice and all . . I've heard that it makes working with a PC more seamless and improves productivity.  But if you want to play games . . . it's not going to help much, is it?

So what are you trying to do with your computer?  Do Macs do that?  Does screen size or weight matter to you?  Do you have a lot of money to spend?  Factor all that with the laptops available and get best one that fits you.

I'll Second that, wise advice.

If your not sure what to get that meets your need (PC or Mac), post the Need here - I'll guarantee a Mac/PC war will start - so you will get all the views imaginable in the known Universe on the issue - which I suspect is what you need to help sort out which is best for you in your particular individual situation.

Just filter out emotion and self justification in the ensuing war, there will be plenty of that, and look for the facts you need - I guarantee it will give you the information you are seeking.

I think you have this forum confused with another.  Most "flame wars" are about piracy, it's rare that folks get too upset about much else.

They'll be a bias (I typed 'bios' three times there . . I'm such a geek) towards Windows because of the nature of Stardock and wincustomize but there a large population of folks that run OSX and Windows (and *nix).  They'll give you honest, real-world, opinions.

Get whichever one you can afford. They're all fine for surfing the net and using Office and they're all pretty sleek, light and easy to use.
