Modifying font parameters for icon text

Hi, can anyone tell me if it's possible to change the text used for the icons in a tabbed dock? You click on a tab and the icons appear -- I want to change the colour, font and get rid of the shadow.

I have OD+ 1.9.

I see you can edit the font used for the tab text. This changes also the font used for the icons. But although you can also change the size of the tab font, the size of the icon font stayed fixed.

In particular I find the current icon text -- white with an ugly, dense black shadow -- very hard to read, no matter what font I choose, and the text is so large that the icon names are often abbreviated. Can I make the text smaller, change its colour and get rid of the shadow?

Thanks in advance.

This does not change icon text font, to change it, from either Tab settings or Dock settings, General-Miscellaneous Options, at bottom Label Font. This controls icon text font for all docks.

Smaller, yes from above, color and shadow, no and no. Maybe in the future, I think this has already been requested as a feature.

Thank you very much for your reply. However, I cannot get this to work. I changed the font label where you said but this affected only the fonts used for the icons in the non-tabbed dock. The text for the tabbed-dock icons remains unchanged.

While I'm writing, do you (or anyone) know if there is a way to make flyout menus just normal menus? I see from the settings that this can be enabled if the menus contain more than 80 items, but I'd like to enable it all the time?

Cheers.

Do you have the latest version of OD, 1.90.026, tested and did work with this version before my first reply. Is this a stand alone install or thru Stardock Central (SDC). SDC is the recommended way to install/update Stardock apps. In SDC, Tools, register products, then OD will show under Misc in left side panel, after registered you should be able to upgate if is not current version.

Get rid of, drag off dock, the flyout and use a standard shortcut pointing to where flyout was and set it to show as a menu.

Hello,
I have the same issue. I wish I was able to change the font of the icon names in the tabbed dock because of the shadow effect and the elipses. I did as you suggested and installed the newest version 1.90.026 through SDC. I did have to uncheck the 'Show pre-release version' in the lower left corner of the SDC window for SDC to see this particular update. I now have the newest version and that hasn't changed anything even after closing/opening SD+ or rebooting. One other thing I would like to see is that the name could wrap to two lines or have the ability to space the icons the way we want. The elipses do go away if I change the icon size to 100+ pixels(way to big to work with). The icon I am using for referencing is the "Configure Dock' icon in the General tab that is automatically created. I would need to make the pixel size even larger for longer names. Currently, my pixel size settings are 25 pixels on a '1024x768' screen setting. Configure Dock shows as 'Config...'. At most, I see only 6 characters for any icon at this setting. The suggestion does work for 'mouseover' control but, not 'name under' label control. Please help. This is very annoying.
Thank you!

When have label for icons on tabbed dock set to Show below each entry it is changed/uses the same font as the tabs, Tabs & Styles tab, Adjust the font used for text on tabs. It for labels only changes font used only, size is not changeable. The labels being cut off is something that for now we must live with. As you have found the larger the icon size the less cut off it is. The only thing you can do, other than set icon size at 100, is to shorten/short form the names. From your example, I would just shorten Configure Dock to Config, then you will have not more ..... as when it is cut off.
Partly because of this limitation, and partly personal taste, is why I have labels set to show on mouse over, and only really need that when in my folders tab, default IP folders, on other tabs I have icons that I can easily identify with needing to read label.

Hello,
Thank you for that information. I at least have a slightly better work around now. I changed the font to Monotype Corsiva. Since the default size is 13 and can't be changed I opted to change the font to one where the 13 size looks smaller so I could increase the icon size to 40pixels. I now can see more of the letters in the name. I can only abbreviate the names so much. I do have a request though pertaining to the icons :

I would like to be able to change the size and color of the name.

I would also like to be able to change the effect of the font. I don't like the shadow effect right now. It makes it more difficult to read.

I would also like to be able to space them or add separators among the icon group.

Word wrapping in the name would be a nice addition too.

Thanks once again and I love this software.
