Hello, i wonder if there is any way you can make a button that hide/shows your desktop icons? without having to open up DesktopX Builder. Like a buttom on your desktop. thx

i tried to code a btn for this, but was never successful. I tried javascript/vbscript but never was able to make a "working" way to hide/show icons on the desktop.

If someone comes up with one, let me know!

I don't think that linked widget works to hide/show Desktop Icons.

NP Bichur i thought that i missed this widget a while back when i was trying to make this work. You would think it cant be that hard. But from what i have found out, the way windows hides the icons is to place another version of the wallpaper on TOP of them. This messed me up BIG TIME when i tried to use the Natural Desktop & Desktop Aquarium.

I will look around again. There are a bunch of programs out there that do this, but no DX widgets/gadgets..

Thought I had a script for this somewhere.

Check out #72 from Kelly's Corner Tweaks.

Think it requires a restart of explorer which defeats the purpose?

I found mine.. and it does work.. i just didnt like how it re-started explorer, but it has to do that to make it work.

I will post a widget/gadget later today.

Another side effect is that widgets/gadgets running with no tray icon option checked; the tray icons come back.

yeah, ND (and I've heard AD) doesn't change the walls when desktop icons are hidden.
Drove me nuts for the longest time - didn't have a clue - kept checking display properties = there is was - just not applied = click the one above, click the one it should be - click apply = voila (sorta voila)

I've issues once in a while with DTX not applying a wall when icons are hidden.

WB doesn't alway apply the skin's wall when icons are hidden.
WB doesn't do the smart wall apply thing when icons are hidden.

I'm just gonna have to go to a 1 icon desktop I think.
