If a Poem Falls in a Website ...

...and There is No One Around to Read It...

DeathByBeebles

all my online regulars
have all moved on

back to their careers
their spouses
or perhaps even
The Great Beyond

all I know is they’re not here

and I’m still here
cranking it out
like moldy sausage

there was a time
when I looked forward
to their reflection
for validation

but now I have
this empty mirror
and my lone histrionic
voice crying out
in the desert

God hears me
and I should be happy with that
but I’m not

I keep shadowboxing
with the word and the form
sometimes to the point
of exhaustion

and what do I have to show for it?

Writing
is sometimes its own reward
but I’m not all that good at it

and the secret truth is
I want to connect

with others
with something grander
maybe even something
universal and eternal

and though I know
my limitations
still
perversely
I persist

which just makes me
a sentimental sop
of a
human being

and an
embarrassment
to the
Poetry Industry.

I'm new around here. Sorry all your friends are gone. I love reading poetry so I wouldn't mind leaving a comment or two.

Don't feel too bad, it is natural for us to seek validation and want to make a mark on the world.

and an
embarrassment
to the
Poetry Industry.

Who cares what anyone else thinks. If the writing makes you feel better, that's all that matters.

Hey you still have me! I love reading your poems, you're even on my fast link thing on the side of my blog. Don't worry, I'm sure people read your poems. I love them, you always bring some emotion to me when I read them.

Hey Buddah,

I still pop in from time to time and I always make time to read you. You inspire me.

I will let you know more often.

To all of those new to JU, you should buy Buddah's book, it is fantastic.

Give 'em a link Moskowitz.
