WindowBlinds quits working

I have had this happen once before, I shut my pc down last night and this morning
when I started it WindowBlinds wasn't working.

The first time it happened I uninstalled and reinstalled it and it has been ok since.

But alas, it has happened again...

Here is my system info.

WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 5 (5.51 (build 97 x86))

WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC

WindowBlinds appears to be activated on this PC

Your machine supports per pixel borders on WindowBlinds skins.

(Plug and Play Monitor) 1 is attached to Radeon X1600 Series

Wblind.dll 2007/06/19 10:39:20
Wbsrv.dll 2007/03/13 10:57:52
Wbconfig.exe 2007/06/19 10:43:03
Wbload.exe 2006/03/13 18:54:14
Wbhelp.dll 2004/09/18 17:37:07
Wbui.dll 2005/12/06 22:29:06
Tray.dll 2006/04/28 19:26:49

If anyone can give help or general advice that would be great.

Thanks in advance.

It sounds like WindowBlinds is being blocked by something when it attempts to load at startup.

If you run wbload.exe from the WindowBlinds directory when your computer starts unskinned, does this have any effect?

reply#1 from Mike: No it does not. I have the same problem from time to time. I have to reset to normal skin (i just choose the top one) then it goes to the old fashion type WB needs. Then I can reapply my windowblinds. Has been a pain since the advent of WB5. it's hit or miss - never know what i'll see when the machine starts

another addition to my post.

Some windowblinds don't do this - makes me believe its something to do with the code of the windowblinds skin. right now i'm using the "Knot Vista" skin by I.R.Brainiac and the only time it failed was when I had a crash. I'll see if I can repeat the failure to see what skins may do it. I'll be back.

i can be contacted about this at jaidaksghost@bellsouth.net

Have either one of you recently installed new software? Why just a few days ago I decided to change firewalls. I'd heard about Kerio Firewall. You get the whole suite of apps and they are good for 30 days. After that you get to keep the basic firewall. Well my machine didn't like it. I had trouble with all sorts of things one of which is WB. Never have trouble with WB. At any rate I uninstalled Kerio and went back to Zone Alarm. Now all is fine. If it ain't broke don't fix it! Just a thought.
