Skinning for Dummies - Getting Started

If anyone can guide me to some self-help references on skinning, I'd be much appreciative. I recently purchased Skin Studio Pro (vrs 5) and am finding it to be a little more awkward to weave through than I thought it would be.

I'm skin a user. My primary interest at this point is to tweak existing skins for personal use. I'd like the option to change one or two properites in some of my favorite skins to make them more consistent with my personal tastes. Examples would be 1) moving Mac buttons on the window bar from left to right: 2) changing the shape and size of window buttons; 3) adding user icons in the start menu; 4) changing menu font type/size; etc.

As a start, I downloaded the "SkinStudio User and Developers Guide" from the Stardock webpage. I'm sure it will be more helpful once I get past the initial learning curve. I learn best with examples, ones that show specific mouse clicks to make to complete changes, a kind of "Skinning for Dummies" reference if you will. Does anything like that exist? If not, I'll keep plugging away

Thanks in advance,

Sleep

Well , i also have a quistion , how can i customize the system folders (the Windows folder and program files folder).

My problem is that the texts ("This folder contains files that keep your system working etc..." and the "Show the contents of this folder") both in same color as the background color of the page. So its invisible. And i can't find anyway to change the color of the text or the page background to make it visible (i use skinstudio latest)...

Thanks alot...
