All WB skins use Windows Standard Color scheme

I'm using the new WB 5.5 for Vista x64. I have an mpg video as my background using either DeskScapes or DreamScenes, but everytime I boot, I get the error message that DreamScenes can not start because the color scheme Aero is not selected. No matter the WB skin I select, I always get Windows Standard as my color scheme.

Interesting that I can manually select my mpg file as my background and it works fine using Windows Standard instead of Aero.

How do I get DreamScenes to work with WB?

Thanks

It sounds like dreamscenes is getting confused.

What specification is your PC?

I have an Intel Core 2 2.93Ghz
2GB RAM
NVidia GeForce 7600GT w/256MB
My Windows Experience rating is 5.4

I also have Stardocks Deskscapes installed but I cant get the DreamMaker software to work so I just select an .mpg file for my background. This works fine excpet at boot when I get the error message.

Problem solved.

I realized I had a program that would launch on startup that was incompatible with Vista Aero scheme. It would force Vista to switch to the basic scheme temporarily during startup. When I removed this startup program, everything returned to normal.

Thanks for listening.

What application did you have that is incompatible with Vista Aero?

My mistake...the problem remains. Any help would be appreciated.

I thought it was the Ulead Video Studio quick-launch program, but today I rebooted and the problem re-appeared. I've uninstalled StarDocks DeskScapes.

Here is what is happening:

1) On boot, WindowBlinds loads fine but I get the error message "DreamScene can only run using the Windows Aero Scheme".
2) I right click on the desktop and select Personalize/Windows Color and Appearance/Open Classic Appearance properties. Here I can see that the Windows Standard Color scheme is selected.
3) I change the color Scheme to Windows Aero---the preview window is now a black box
4) I press OK
5) I repeat step 2 and I can see that even though I just changed it, Windows Standard is still selected.
6) I unload WindowBlinds
7) Now my scheme can be seen as definitely Windows Standard
8) I repeat steps 2-4 and this time Windows Aero remains as my color scheme
9) I reload WindowBlinds
10) I repeat step 2...the Color Scheme has reverted again to Windows Standard

So it definitely appears to be WindowBlinds that is causing my Color Scheme to not be Aero.

Again, I am running Vista Ultimate 64bit and WindowBlinds. Here is my System Info:

Your Windows Graphics Experience score is 5.9
