Shipyard - Upgrade button removes all components

I don't know if this is a bug or if this is supposed to work as it does but I would think it is a defect.
If you pick a ship in the shipyard then click the Upgrade button all of the components are stripped from the ship when it brings it up on the screen. This doesn't seem right to me. I would like to have the ship displayed with all of it's current weapons, modules, engines, defenses, etc so that I can upgrade the parts that I want to upgrade and leave the rest as they are.
Is this correct behavior, do I need to recreate my ships every time I want to make them a little faster or change the type of armor?

It's been this way for a long time.

I remember in previous versions (maybe GalCiv 1?) all of your extras went away too. That was REALLY annoying. Here all you have to do is decide where the new components should go, which doesn't really take that long.

What version of gal civ2 are you playing? Dread Lords or Dark Avatar? I believe it was in DA that there ended up being a check box (somewhere...I'm not at home to say where it's at) to keep all current modules on the ship when doing such a thing in the shipyard.

I'm playing DA. If there is a checkbox then I haven't noticed it. There probably is and I probably HAVEN'T noticed it. If there isn't then I think there should be one.

Heh heh, I found it. Thanks for telling me where that option was. I never would have noticed it.
Much better!
