I have noticed that when I set my espionage spending it automatically increases the amount of bc spent with the passage of time. Is this a bug? Why set it to a given number when it's going to automatically increase in the future?

It's actually being set to a percentage. As you increase your revenue, your espionage spending will also grow. We should probably put a % by those sliders to show this.

Thankx, I figured as much but couldn't be sure because I didn't see a percentage amount being listed. This would be good to put in the game.

If you don't spend any money on espionage you won't learn anything about other races. Thereby making it much harder for you to make strategic decisions in dealing with them.
