Governors

I love the governors system in GalCivII. It's made life so much more easy on me. But it would be great if it could be expanded to be a little more flexible.

For example: I'm in a war against the Drath. I've finally gotten off the defensive and I'm ready to make my strike. Here's what I need to do:

1. I need to keep my light fighters where they are as a defensive force and get my battleships into position to attack.

2. I need to have my high-population planets switched over from building battleships to building transports.

3. I need to order my battleships to rally at a forward rally point, and any transports to rally at a slightly further back rally point in case my incursion fails.

At the moment, I can do 2 from my Civ Manager easily on the Colonies tab. I can't exactly do 1, though: I need to either sort through my ship's list and order them to rally to my forward rally point one by one, or order everyone to go to my forward rally point and then order my fleets of fighters to hold position instead (at which point the freighters and constructors I'd forgotten about turn around from where they were going and start running blindly towards the fight). 3 is harder than it needs to be: I can't set rally points from my civ manager, I need to go to each planet one by one and do it from the shipyard. The governor doesn't work either because it only lets me change a planet's rally point based on what rally point it was using before, not what they are building.

It would be nice if the rally point governors could be updated so that the IF field can be changed to ship type as well as rally point destination. That way, I could tell my empire, "All ships of class BATTLESHIP go to Rally Point Alpha. All fighters that were going someplace, stay put and Guard. All planets manufacturing HIGH SPEED TRANSPORT, change to Rally Point Beta."

I can't believe I'm the first person to suggest this, and I'm probably not. Just my luck if it turns out to be in 1.7 and I wrote out this big long post for nothing

i have never used the governors, i do all of those tasks manually, which gets pretty tedious at year 3 of a gigantic map!

yeah, I definitely agree. I only ever use the governor to change what ships I'm building, but it's still a hassle. The other two aren't even worth it.

You mentioned some things I wanna try myself. As of now i don't use the governors for much except stopping building constructors when my influence rush over, or stopping building when the economy gets too strained.

The big governor for me is the individual planet one, which i always have to go into for every planet I take over and stop the auto-upgrades. If I don't, as soon as I research a tech all my planets start building stuff and drain the bank.

Course you can just put social on ZeRo and individually Focus each planet when you wanna build something too ... but I wish there was an over-all planet auto-upgrading switch.
