Sound Cracking like crazy

I have Vista. The sound cracks on your game and only your game. It does not crack during anything but when screens are up requiring feedback. It is NOT Vista's problem. It's your game's problem or the software you use to make your game. I'm not complaining, but I've seen plenty of forum entries here blaming Vista, or blaming the sound card drivers, and the fact is that as a professional computer programmer, when everyone elses product but mine works.. it's not everyone else's problem.

So is there a fix in the works here?

WoW, that's nice to know. I was thinking about getting Vista (not really) but now ... actually I lately assumed it does have to do with the sound drivers & the sound card & the system chips % the output device (speakers/headphones). I don't get any crackling on bf2142 or supreme commander since I got a decent sound card (better-than-walmart-stuff), and I never had any with galcivII, so I dunno? I remember reading that on-board sound mobo's often (not always) had some inconsistentcies due to how they use system resources ... interesting comment. Try reading some of the comments left on newegg.com about sound cards that people purchased there. I got a lot of neat info from researching that site.

Sometimes reducing the acceleration level for the sound cards helps.
