No planetary bonus tiles

Having played DL since it came out, I have only just bought DA and one thing that is readily obvious (and I must assume a bug) is that aside from my capital there are absolutely no planetary boni whatsoever in this gigantic galaxy.

Is this a known bug?

EDIT: Sorry - I was using an incorrect term to search for this problem. It seems that there are in fact some threads and a number of people experiencing this. I can't seem to find any response from the devs though.

Before anyone says it - it's not just "bad luck" as I have a gigantic map with abundant everything and 0 bonus tiles. That's simply not fun.

Try it with lower settings than abundant-all. Cari's not around yet to confirm, but I seem to recall a comment that bonus tile distribution is something of a 'balancing factor', so if there are huge amounts of useable planets, they may well be much rarer. I'll have to pin her down about this when she shows up to make sure I'm not remembering wrong, though.

I also noticed this problem, as have several others. Regardless of the settings, bonus tiles do not seem to appear in gigantic maps anymore (except on the home worlds.) This makes gigantic maps extremely bland and is really annoying.

Thanks for necromancing not one, but three threads on the same subject. But the question is, why is that a big deal? Stardock has already said that the presence of bonus tiles is a balancing factor for a lack of good quality planets. You don't need bonus tiles when you've got PQ 10s and 15s up the wazoo.

It happens on any gigantic map with the following settings or greater:

Planets: Occasional

Habitable Planets: Occasional

Stars: Uncommon

On a gigantic map, that's not "up the wazoo." In fact, it's almost the bare minimum to be sure you'll be able to colonize a planet outside your home system without building at least 1 starbase. Additionally, the COMPLETE lack of bonus tiles makes the planets feel very generic.

Furthermore, setting anomalies and asteroids to rare has no effect on this.

I have version 1.61 and just finished a gigantic map on which bonus tiles were everywhere. In the end, I had 450+ planets, five of them with purple suns. 300% bonuses were common and I had one of each of the 700's.

The game I just started on a medium map and ~10 planets is just as good, maybe a little better even.

I think it's just a random thing.

I've done over 40 runs with various settings and even sent Cari a spreadsheet cataloging some of the latest ones. NO map I created with settings over the ones I listed had any bonus tiles on worlds other than home-worlds.

Also, if you JUST finished a gigantic map in 1.61, did you create the game before the 1.61 patch? Otherwise, how did you finish a gigantic map so quickly.

Some people play the game more than others.

Honestly, this sounds like an issue that Stardock has come up with again and again, and it may just be a problem with gigantic maps messing up the map creation algorithm or something. . . in any case, if you've sent a report in and everything you've done all you can, so I'd let them handle it. Complaining won't fix it fster.

Complaining about it is how the devs find out about the problem. Criticizing people for bringing up bugs though is definitely not productive.

It is one thing to bring up a bug. It is one thing to necromance three separate threads on the same darn issue, especially when Kyro already acknowledge the issue is known about a month ago. If it still doesn't show up on the next patch, then it's time to start complaining again.

I started that game some time in the middle of June, was out of town for two weeks, and finished it up just last night. I know the game has not been updated since at least the 29th and I'm pretty sure I started the game with 1.61.

The DA game I just started has a Precursor Mine (700%) + 300% Manufacturing bonus + 100% Manufacturing bonus on my Homeworld (Earth). Huge Galaxy, loose clusters, everything else is abundant. Version 1.61.
