WB5 Trial won't install on x64

Constant restart thing

Right, so I've just re-installed my workstation, and stumbled across a theme pack which includes a rather tasty one for WB5. I thought I'd try it out and see what I thought, except that I can't for the life of me get WB5 to install.
The first part goes as expected. I reboot, and there things go wrong.
Attempting to start WB5 tells me that I need to reboot. This also happens after several reboots.
A check of task manager shows WBInstall64.exe - kudos on the native executable, but it seems to be somewhat unhappy.

I've looked through the forums for some kind of indication of a fix, but I haven't really found anything - quite a lot of mentions of it, but nothing helpful.
I have tried uninstalling, removing traces, and trying again several times now, to no avail.

I'd appreciate any suggestions or help.

Thanks,
EqUaTe

How long ago did you originally install the trial? The expiration date won't "reset" after reformatting or otherwise "re-installing" your workstation. If that's not the issue, was it working on your rig before?

This is my first attempt at installing it since I did a complete fresh install of the machine.
Hell, I'm pretty sure it's my first attempt at installing it since I BUILT this machine a couple of years ago.
It's definitely not expired - also, a complete fresh install of the OS _WOULD_ reset the expiration date, because there's nothing left for it to check. This is as if it's a brand new PC.

It's not that it's coming up as expired (why do people seem to think the installation wouldn't complete if it's expired?) - I'm getting essentially a dead process.

I've never used it on this rig before.

Not according to the numerous reports of people using it, oh and the fact that it has native 64-bit executables.

As for that article, it's referring to Vista, and by extension Vista x64, NOT XP x64 - search the forums, you'll find a large number of people using WB5 on XP x64, and quite a few reporting this issue.

As I said, the executable hanging is WBInstall64.exe, which is a 64bit NATIVE program - it would NOT run on XP 32bit.
This would not be included in the package were it not functional.

EqUaTe i agree with you this tread talk about Vista but you didn't tell us if you run on Vista or XP.
You should send a email at support@stardock.com with all the informations you can tell them to help you with your mater
like your XP version
maybe the content of the error message
the version of WB
all you can tell them
i'm pretty sure they can help you to solve your problems

The "repeated request for reboot" issue has been brought up in other threads. Quentin94's suggestion is probably your best bet, though might be worthwhile re-downloading the current trial version & trying to install that.

For reference, I have downloaded it more than once, with the same result.
Finally got the time to email support, so will be doing so now.

Any luck or response on this yet? I am looking to install XP x64 on my machine and would love to hear the outcome before the installation.

Thanks!

No, still waiting to hear back from Stardock.
I got the automated response, which said it should take ~2 business days..
So I should hear today (I ended up not sending the email until the morning of the 13th).

Of this I am aware

'twas Friday when I left that last message though.

No luck so far, but it's been escalated to the developers now.. Fun!
Glad to see that they're willing to work on such things though
