Maybe someone can help me...

Alright so here is my issue. With icon packager, whenever I go to load a package it displays a blue screen then restarts my computer (windows stop error). The first version I had actually registered/purchased was 3.1, and ever since even with 3.2 it still does the same thing everytime. So ever since I've purchased this program it has been doing this...I was wondering maybe if there is or has been a solution to this??

The first thing I'd do is to turn off the reboot so you can see the error.
  1. Open up the properties of "My computer"
  2. Go to the "Advanced" tab
  3. Click "Settings" on the "Setup and recovery" section
  4. Uncheck the 5th button down: "Automatically restart"
Next time it crashes jot down the error and post it here.

Most blue screens are due to driver failures.  Have you recently updated hardware or drivers?

The error message talks about updating/disabling the driver, as well as a Bios driver as well. It also was saying to remove bios driver options like caching. Now I'm no technical genius so I'm not really sure what all of that means. It also listed this technical information

stop : 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xEECBD7F8, 0xB74DEB8C, 0x00000000)

iksysflt.sys Address EECBD7F8 base at EECB6000 Date Stamp 4601c0bf

I'm assuming it has something to do with the registry, but like I said I'm no computer whiz. I haven't updated any hardware/drivers before and after the installation of this program.

That file is part of Spyware Doctor (according to google {take it for what it's worth}).  Did it recently update?

yeah it has a daily update module, but other than that nothing serious, what do you suppose I should do with that program?

Perhaps try disabling Spyware Doctor and see if that fixes your issue. At least you will have narrowed it down if it does.

Imagine that it does work now, but does that mean everytime I want to change an icon package I have to disable Spyware Doctor?

From what I understand Spyware Doctor has been a problem for some users and until that company and Stardock can resolve this issue you may need to disable it during an icon package change. If you require further information on this please contact support@stardock.com .

YOu could switch to another Spyware app.  I like Windows Defender. And before that I used Spybot Search and destroy.  No problems with any other apps.

I use SpyDoctor but I disable it until I want to run it to check my computer which is once or twice a week. I do not keep it on. Just thought I would pass that on..

i also use spyware doctor, but i refuse to have ti run on windows startup, this is because it causes conflicts with a few of my applications, when i need it i start the service and run the program then immediatrely disable the service again, maybe in a future release they will fix these issues but until then i will continue on as i have been. adaware, avg antispy and spybot search and destroy are very good spy ware programs as well, maybe you could give them a go and see if that fixes your icon packager problem. good luck
