Possible automate mining craft exploit

Ignoring the Shroud

Hi,

I've noticed in Dark Avatar that the asteroid mining creation vessel has a slight exploit built into it. If you set it to Automate, it knows where to find the nearest asteroids even if you have not revealed them from behind the shroud yet - all too often I've noticed it finishes a series of bases and then sets a new target somewhere that I haven't yet discovered. Whoops!

Also, I'd like to see it prioritise asteroids that are within my influence first, then neutral, and perhaps warn (or not work at all) if it's about to go and build within an opponent's area of influence whilst on Automate.

Thoughts?

The tech is called space mining I,II&III and is researchable from the xeno engineering/logistics branch. To upgrade the bases you just set your space miner ship to the asteroid and click/right click improve.

I think it's probably intentional like automating anomaly searching. Woot another fellow Aussie

There does seem to be a few of us here, i didn't realize at first how many of us are on the forums.

Aussie Aussie Aussie! Hey from WA!

I think its intentional like the Auto Survey function, so that you dont have to manualy micromanage it, as that could become a real pain. I agree though, it does need tweeking to stop it from building bases that will prittymuch imidiatly flip over to someone else.. thats just anouying!

Hi W.A., east coast for me, Newcastle to be exact.

I guess the cheese to it all is, you know where the AI will be at some point. Place a couple of Influence bases at the asteroids and let the AI do the hard work for you. I do this when my miner heads off into space i know i won't be able to colonize effectivly before the AI will. If you can just nab the closest planetto the mines, even in deep influence of another AI you should hang on to them.

In my current game the AI came from out of nowhere and started mining a belt at a system where I have a planet. It's now got the skull and crossbones over it so they should be working for me soon! In addition to that I was able to follow the trail leading from the belt back to the AI planet it is supplying with minerals even though that is in an unexplored area. IMO all such trails should end at the edge of explored space.

I'll buy that for a dollar.
