Unable to install sets

I downloaded several sets.
When it asked to open with with Icon Packager I said "Yes" and then received the usual " A new set as been installed. If you want tou use it... bla bla..."

Did not applied and then went to downoad another one...

When I finally go to IP, none of the sets I downloaded was there.
Tried to install them locally from the Temp directory... to no avail.
Downloaded them all again, and tried to install them locally again... nothing works.

As a test, went to SDC and tried to install the two Icon sets that came with V.3.20.127 and I received the same error message as one of the previous user.

Hope this is looked over soon.

Hey Olney. Are you saying you can't apply an Icon Package? Any package or only the new packages? Your downloaded IP files I'm assuming they're showing up in your download Temp directory?

Ya, I'm having the same problem on 2 of my computers. I even tried uninstalling all of other stardock software and installing just the icon packager but had no luck. Please let us know if there is a patch. Thank you.

Iconpackager is also not working for me. I just installed it Monday so it is the most recent version. I have been able to download a few, but most will not install. I have tried putting the file in the icon packer theme folder and installing it from there and it still doesn't work. The few that would load were bundled with icon explorer libraries as well as the icon packager file. Examples of ones that work are Amber, Faraway Dream, SE Interface orange, Alien2006, And Champicons. Hope they fix this soon.

I am not sure but, why not uninstall the IP and go to my computer and under programs go to Stardock and under Stardock click on Object Desktop and make sure you have uninstalled the IP.
Once you have done that. If you have cCleaner run that and clean your computer. If you don't have that go to www.download.com and donwload ccleaner. It is a free tool and GREAT to keep your computer running well. Now after you make sure all that is clean and gone , go to www.stardock.com and go to Support, and there you can have them send you, your download of the newest Icon Package. Just type in your email address and they will send you your download in mins.
Then download it from the email and copy and paste your activation code. And you should have a working IP. If you don't you need to Go to Stardock and let them know.
Hope I helped. It has happened to me before.

I went to SDC and noticed a 3.20.128 version. I installed it and installed the two packages. Everything seems to work fine for me.

I've uninstalled and installed and did everything Stardock told me to do. I can download certain packages and others don't show up at all when I try and download them. The packages that do show up, when I try to apply them, the My Computer, Will (owner folder on the desktop), or Control Panel doesn't change. I'm about to give up on this. I have Vista and the latest Iconpackager. I wish someone had a solution to this.

Go to Computer and double click , then double click on OS and the double click on Programs.
Scroll down to Programs and Open Stardock , then open IP and then Themes and see if any of the IP's you downloaded are in there... Thats all I can tell you. I have Vista Ulimate and I don't have any problems with My Icon Packages.

I'd like to very much thank whoever it was in another thread (I have only just joined this forum) for suggesting LeechGet. Google for it.

It turns out that the enhanced version of IconPackager, that we paid for, is one of those applications that won't download properly unless a download manager is used. I am on dial-up - I can't speak for those of you who have broadband.

I have wasted hours trying to get a properly working IconPackager, and the support people have tried to help me, but they said gaily that it was probably a corrupted download, use Stardock Central - which didn't work at all. They also made other suggestions which didn't help. So now I can advise them.

Get LeechGet, which only works through IE, not through Firefox, and download the enhanced IP with it. Problem solved! A working IP and downloaded icon themes that will actually install and be applied.

Now, all I have to do is find some attractive icon themes instead of the ugly ones I have seen so far. Anyone remember the beautiful White Glass Folders and Gold Leaf 2 from years ago? Icons that actually look like real Windows icons, but with more style.

not true. I use Firefox and Leechget Personal 2006 - you can drag a download link into the drop place or use this extension

I also update IconPackager through SDC

My rural dialup is one step above party line. fastest connection speed is 26.4Kbps

not true as far as I know, but I've only been hanging around here about 3 yrs or so.
it does depend on the manager if you use one. Leechget is one that plays well with the server.

Thanks for the extension Bichur, much appreciated. I strongly prefer Firefox and prefer not to fire up IE if I can avoid it.

I wish I had come here in the first place instead of wasting hours, but all's well that ends well.

you'll run into download links every once in a while that don't work without IE

for those, I set leechget to catch IE clicks (right click on systray icon) - open the page in IE click the link - once leechget gets it, close IE & move along

hummmmmmmmmmmmm.... I have both and NEVER had a problem downloading.
Maybe it is in the dial up. sorry..

The program still have glitches and bugs that need to be fixed, Icon packager keeps on reverting the newly applied themes or sets back to the Vista default icons every time you shutdown the computer and restart it some of the icons keep changing back to the Windows default icons.

I cannot install new packages either... I only have the ones that installed with IP available to me. I tried both install from disk and install from web. No go. They won't install, or at least won't appear in the selection window. Please help????????

For the time being try saving or renaming the downloaded Icon Packages as .zip files. Extract the files to a folder and then try installing from there.

Brilliant... That worked... An obvious bug it seems. Thanks Hankers.

That seems to work for now.

I just right clicked, went to open with and then chose winrar.

Slapped all the files in a folder then pasted that folder in my themes.
