Cannot view text in tabbed docks

I recently installed ObjectDock Plus. For the most part I have figured out how to use it in a way that works for me, but there are a couple of things that could make it more usable.

The most serious problem I have is that I want to have the Name of each item displayed below its icon, just like it is in Windows.

Objectdock gives me two options which allow me to view the description:

1) Show on mouseover
2) Show below each entry

The first option requires you to move the mouse over the icon before you can read the description. Even then, the text and font is difficult to read.

The second option is what I want to use, but the program does not allow enough space between icons for the text. There is not enough room horizontally, so the name is truncated and ends with three dots ...

There is also no room allowed for multi-line descriptions. I have items on my desktop with three line descriptions under the icon. But if I copy those onto the dock, I cannot read it.

Am I missing something here? I cannot find any options anywhere in the program that add more space for this text. I also cannot find any options to change the fint used, the color or other text attributes.

Any suggestions how i might be able to make this work?

Thanks

You could try to use a blank icon between each of your icons. Not sure though. Just create a 128x128 blank png and put it in your icons folder, then create a new shortcut and assign that as the icon...no text for it.

Tabs and Styles...Adjust the font used for text on tabs. This is for OD 1.9 by the way, not sure what version you have. Hope this helps.

I've got my dock set up to show on mouseover and have had it that way forever. I don't have any trouble reading the description and I'm semi old and near sighted. Show us a shot where you can't read the description. I don't understand. You can set the mouseover to any font or type size you want. If you have a problem with your eyes than that i can understand but otherwise I don't understand unless you can show us.

If the icon name is long abbreviate it i.e My Documents changed to Doc's etc

to get the name to fit inside the actual tab stretch dock across screen use both sliders to get what you need, again in some cases you'll have to abbreviate,i use thin & translucent & then adjust the sliders so it's narrow then i stretch the width of the whole dock as for the icons i don't bother abbreviating them anymore as i don't notice the dots you speak of any longer until now of course grrrrrrrr lmao

Ok here is a picture of what I see on my screen. If anyone can offer a suggestion how I might be able to view the entire description under each icon I would much appreciate it, thanks

Use BOTH bigger image size and smaller text size. Change text to a narrow font like Arial Narrow. Use the "Icon Size" slider on the "Size & Appearance" pageto adjust image size. The label font is adjusted/changed on the "General" page under "Miscellaneous Options".

find the corner of the dock, top or bottom and stretch it to the right, (according to screenshot) like you would a window border. Does that help?

My system does not have an "Arial Narrow" font installed on it. Even if it did, I do not think it would make any difference, as changing the font setting on the "General page under "Miscellaneous" has no effect whatsover on these fonts. That was one of the first things I tried, the settings are ignored. The setting apparently only works when "show on mouseover" is selected.

No, doesn't help. I have tried every possible combination of resizing icons and the dock. I have even tried the icon spacing settings under Windows themes, these also have no effect.

I have come to the conclusion that there is no way possible to adjust the font size or icon spacing. Maybe I am still missing something.

Hello,
I have the same issue. The icon names show the first 5-6 letters followed by dots. There isn't any way to expand the names or make them wrap to another line. Expanding the size of the 'drawer' does nothing for the naming. All of the previously mentioned possible solutions do nothing either. I would like to change the font size and the color of the font to contrast the background if possible. I also want to get rid of the shadow. I could send an image but, it would look very similar to the one above except mine is on the top of the screen. On the side of the screen, mine would have about 8-9 letters just like his. I don't understand why there isn't anything in the options to do this.
Thanks,
