Need help with activating mods

Ok first off let me just say that I have the newest updated version of Gal Civ2, but I dont have the expansion set.
The problem I'm having is that when I go into the game options menu and I attempt to get my mods I have downloaded to work I can't.
There are only 2 options listed: Default and Example.
Further the game will not allow me to type in the file paths for the mods I have anywhere.
If I attempt to type it in in the blank white bar no text appears at all.

So how do I get my mods to work?
Does this mean my copy of the game is broken somehow?
Hope someone can help, ty in advance if you have any fixes for me.

Try going up in the folder tree, then back into the Mods folder.
It may just need to refesh things, and I recall a similar issue the first time I tried to use the mods folder. After clicking around a bit the KHSM folder showed up and I was able to select it.

Are you running the latest version of the game?

Also note that any mods you've installed need to have a ModDescription.xml file in their folders in order to be seen by the game.
