Make as many as you feel comfortable with but please, please , please let them be user definable.

PS Did I ever mention that I love options ?

Last year, before I downloaded the beta, I suggested (on the newsgroup, not on these forums) that there be a hotkey for "pass all ships in sector". After playing the beta I have yet to get into one of the massive battles that I tended to get into in the OS/2 game, so I would not so far have had a use for this hot key, but I mention it in case others think it might be a good idea.

In the OS/2 game I would sometimes have 100 or more ships defending a critical sector, and would want them to maintain their defensive positions. It was a real pain to "pass" each of them individually.

BTW, my sympathies on the carpal tunnel. I've had a moderate case for years, and have to wear splints on my wrists while sleeping to keep them straight. I switched my mouse to my left hand because of it.

Could hot keys be soft keys instead? We have them on a lot of devices we use at work. Especially the Function keys, One key works for onething in one menu and does something else in another. (can get very complicated tho)

User defined keys makes a lot of sense.

Have you tried the finger mouse? It like a trackball that fits over one finger and you use your thumb (very tiny movements) to move the cursor. I have one for the laptops and it's great http://www.trianglecables.com/mice.html

I concur! Userdefined hotkeys for everything. The goal should be that you could put away the mouse completely.

Hot keys from planet completion screen for

Bypass all social production completions
Bypass all social production completions with governor
Bypass all social production completions unless empty
Bypass all military production completions

Hot keys from main window for

Set target point X (1-10)
Use target point X (setting a destination/target)
Skip to closest ship to last moved ship
Jump to attacked locations (starbase, ship, trade ...)

Cntl-R and Cntl-N ok but I perfer the F-keys. Is it possible to do this off the main menu like Diablo 2?

My hot key suggestion: Cancel all auto-pilots.

Cancel all automatic view focus changes on main map.

(I know, I know! Not really a hot key item if it's a feature not yet in the game.)

But a guy can wish can't he ?

Please have support for five button mice! I like laying back a bit and relaxing when I'm playing a game, and it would be great if I could use the two extra buttons on my mouse for frequently used hot 'keys'.

i would like a hotkey option defined or otherwise that when you have a ship selected on the galactic map - or a destination circle, you could jump to destination or to ship.

s
