Help on PC parts

I need some help in checking some parts for a PC I am making.
This are the parts I have for now:
Motherboard: 939Dual-SATA2(supports AMD Athlon 64 processors, slot for PCI Express x16 and x1 Display Card, slot for Real AGP8X Display Card,
Proccesor: AMD Athlone 64 +3200 socket 939 HyperTransport Technology
RAM: 1gb(2x 512mb modules)

Parts I want to buy:
Graphic Card: WWW Link
ATX Tower+parts that accompany it: WWW Link
HD: a compatible HD with around 300-500gb
Mouse and keyboard: a gaming keyboard and mouse
Cd-Rom/DvD-Rom drive: compatible, perhaps a DVD rom with a dvd burner(I already have a dvd burner but its portable)
anything else extra for my enjoyment: a sound card for better sound experience with some good compatible speakers

What I need help from someone that has knowledge of making pc from various parts is in telling me if that graphic card and atx tower will be compatible with the motherboard I already have. ohh and the motherboard is of the biggest motherboard type.

My advice would be to understand your motherboard. If you understand the capabilities of your motherboard, that will be your guide on what are the best components.

You could also look up your motherboard on the internet to see what you can learn about it.

here are two good places to start...

As mystikmind said understanding your motherboard is key, stating that your motherboard is of the biggest type doesn't say much, as there are many different sizes, chipsets, bios. measuring your motherboard in inches or millimeters will tell what size tower you will need (ie ATX, BTX, microATX, microBTX) you can find a guide at wikipedia to reference your size. Its also important to find out the exact maker and model of your motherboard this will let you know what chipset it has as well as its capabilities and limitations.

PS If you plan on having your computer last and still upgrade down the road, you need to invest in a new motherboard now... 939 socket has been discontinued by AMD, a Opteron 185, Athlon+4800, or FX-62 were the last processors made by AMD that support the 939 socket...for $150 you can get a MB that has an AMD AM2 socket, DDR2 support and 2 or more PCI-e 16x slots with SLI or Crossfire support.

I think he already has the processor and ram, so bying a new motherboard would not be wise. He needs to try to buy hardware that perhaps can be used later on when he upgrades again, if that were possible!!!! (i dispise all this incompatability going around like the plaque these days)

If you plan on using this rig for current generation gaming, and having it make you happy for 2 years +, invest in another gig of RAM.
