Population Growth -- Is there a limit?

Since the arrival of the expansion "Dark Avatar", we've been given several new things to improve the rate populations grow. We have two techs that each provide +10% polution growth, we have the planet structure "fertility clinics", and the Torians have the "super breeder" super ability.

The question I have is, is there a limit to how much your polulation may grow in a single turn? Is 12 fertility clinics going to have your population skyrocket, or is it a waste after, lets say, the 3rd one?

Hi!
is there a limit to how much your polulation may grow in a single turn?

I had a testbed planet, where I grew over 0.5B pop per turn, and the race was not Super Breeder. However those 0.5B was from unreasonably large amount of Fertility Clinics (IIRC 13), and the race had almost all possible boosts to its growth (but starting 40%).

If I'd crunch the numbers, a maximum growth ability would be composed of:
- 40% from design,
- 10% from Universalists,
- 20% from tech,
- 50% from Aphrodisiacs,
- 100% bonus from 100% approval on a planet,
- 19M (38M pop with 100% approval) from each Fertility Clinic (25% of base growth).

There are also bonuses for Torians:
- 10% built-in growth and
- unknown percentage and effect (+ or *) from Super Breeder (I suspect it's about 100%, but I'm just not in mood to run another 1-hour testbed to determine the numbers).

The last one source would be luck with either
- surveyed anomalies giving 1% boost or
- random colonization events.

However all bonuses apply to 3% base growth or 75M pop, whichever is smaller. Each FC only adds fixed amout of pop after the actual growth is calcualted.

Leaving out luck bonuses the max growth with Torians on a class 26 planet with 25 FCs would be 75M + 260% abilities +(*?) (supposed) 100% Super Breeder + 25 * 38M FCs = 1187M.

Thanks for the reply Iztok. Sorry that I didn't get back right away, but I spent some time trying to rephase my reply so it didn't appear to be so rude. Its tough to both study philosophy and to not be overly critical at the same time.

Thanks for the effort, but you provided an overly complicated answer to a simple question. Either a simple "Yes, there is a limit. It is so and so.", or a "No, there is no limit." would of sufficed.

Oh well. I decided to play a short game as the Torians, and using every method I could use to max population growth. Apparently, while the normal races are appear to be limited to a max growth of about 0.5 billion per turn, the Torians can get about 2.0 billion per turn. The only difference was the Torian super ability, super breeder.

Thanks for all the information Iztok. I appreciated it.

Hi!

You want simple answers? Well, here's one: 48.

Either a simple "Yes, there is a limit. It is so and so."

I did exactly that. But I can't give a simple AND correct answer on a simple question about a complex issue. My only sentence that was not necessary for a proper answer is the first one ("I had a testbed planet..."), but I'm a human, not a computer.

the Torians can get about 2.0 billion per turn. The only difference was the Torian super ability, super breeder.

Thanks for clearing that out. Apparently the Super Breeder is close to announced 400% bonus, but works also above 1B pop.

Err... never mind.

Thanks for clearing that out. Apparently the Super Breeder is close to announced 400% bonus, but works also above 1B pop.

If I recall correctly, I saw something saying that they would get 4x population growth. I never saw anything saying a +400% bonus.

Anyhow, the more that I think about the 2 bil population growth per turn, the more I realize just how scary that is. I tend to play as the Yor with maxed out soldiering. Because of my high soldiering score, the other races usually need invasion tactics just to match my home field advantage. If the Torian AI realized just how quickly it could replace their troops, they could end up being my biggest threat.

+400% is the same thing because it is 4 times 100%....

The population growth used to be capt at 200 mil per turn, now , all that matters is the planet (NO MATTER WHAT!!) can only support 20billion people.

When your morale is 100% your population growth is doubled which is 100% bonus not 200%.
4x population growth is a 300% bonus (i.e., 100% base + 300% bonus)

Hi!

Errm, not true. The cap is 100B pop, but to get there, a planet needs 14 best farms, and ~15 VRCs to hold that amount of pop above 50% approval at 59% tax level.
