OB grinds almost to a halt after a couple of weeks

I have a problem, which MAY be related to contention between OB and ObjectDock Plus.
Today my system became very sluggish, sometimes taking a minute or more to switch between two virtual desktops. Running Task Manager I found that OB was taking somewhere between 15 and 50 percent of CPU. The ONLY thing I use it for is Virtual desktops and a clock.
I have a program called Inspector, which I acquired whilst trying to identify a problem somewhere else. It generates a crash log, which I'm keeping for the moment. I'd send it to Stardock if I had the slightest confidence that they'd answer.
Since I've specified that I want OD+ to hide the task bar, and this sluggishness affects OD Plus, it's a real pain trying to recover from the situation. Eventually, after stopping both OB and OD+ and restarting them, I got them back. I started looking in the forums, and found that OD+ had an update, 1.90.026. I made the mistake of installing that, but when I inspected the Stardock Stand Alone Applications before installation, Stardock Central insisted that I had nothing installed, although I've been running it for several months.
