Can't import taskbar as widget--how to override skin author's gui settings?

I'm trying to import the taskbar of one skin (Vista remix by Jemaho) as a widget into another skin (HilledSE) by the same author, but the widget import erases the taskbar files.

Also, in the WB panel, this optional override leaves me with an unskinned taskbar and start menu.

I guess the basic problem is, how do you override the author's skin parameters? He seems to have locked everything in place and I want to mix and match...

Using the Override settings should work. What version of WB are you running & what OS?

Open WBConfig, go to the System Information dialog & copy/paste the contents here.

Thanks for your reply Daiwa

My build info:

WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 5 (5.5 (build 94 x86))

WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC

WindowBlinds appears to be activated on this PC

Your machine supports per pixel borders on WindowBlinds skins.

OS: XP MCE build 2600 sp2 US/English

I've already tried the Override in WB; it leaves the taskbar totally unskinned--back to Windows 3.1 by the looks of it.

I guess I could import the taskbar parameters piece by piece, but that's a lot of work. You should be able to import as a widget or use the Override function.

I've also got some other weird stuff going on; my texts aren't fitting properly in my dialog boxes and popup windows, though the skin says to automatically resize fonts for 120 dpi, which I'm using.

It also fragmented the startmenu and I had to hack it back together by trial and error.

This happens on all my skins.

When you open WB config and click view my system information, it doesn't show any files, dates or times?

You may have to left-click in the center of that dialog window, then scroll down using the down arrow key (the mouse scrollwheel won't work) to get the additional information to appear. That window is a chronic source of irritation & confusion because it has no content borders or scrollbar, even when the contents don't fit - something SD really needs to fix (HINT, HINT, SD Mods).

Well, after banging away all over the info window as you recommended, I can see that the left-click trick works only for the info beneath the bar which I already posted, not for the computer info. I tried it with other skins, same problem.

Any other way to get at it? (And does it mean that WB is not "seeing" my graphics card?)

Here's some info from my system properties: Intel Core Duo 6300 @1.86ghz, 1.87 ghz, 2gb ram (DDR2 @800), physical address extension; mobo Gigabyte GA-965GM-S2, my graphics card is an Asus x1650 silent/512. No tweaks, it's all running @ default.

And, thanks to some glitch in Jemaho's skin, most of the text is pale grey, the color of the text in his drop-down bars, which are against a dark grey background. (been working on that for a while, too...)

And the text doesn't size properly to fit the allotted windows either. I believe this is the reason why I can't get at the computer info, aside from it being very annoying and random.

Have you by chance changed your DPI setting or changed the System Font from the MS defaults?
