Cheat codes detected

Cheat codes detected

I am confused.

I just submitted a game that I have been working on forever.

I got cheat codes detected.

I don't have any mods. I haven't done anything unusual. I didn't use a custom character. I didn't upgrade or change the game during the game.

I did nothing different than in any of my other games other than get a big score.

The score is massive, but now that we can have 900+ planets scores of 800,000+ will be easy to get.

I could have gotten over 1,000,000 points except my computer couldn't handle any more ships so at some point I had to stop making ships or I would crash the game.

Why doesn't it at least tell me something about why it is saying cheat codes detected?

Is it just because the score is so high?

That is pretty lame that no reason is given.

If you are going to accuse me of cheating you should at least tell me on what basis.

Ridiculous.

Well, Livonya did not give me the impression that he was quitting.  He was going to test to see if he could reproduce the problem for me but then he never got back to me.  I've assumed that RL has kept him busy or something.

This game was a real pain in the butt. It takes 20 minutes to load the game and 10 seconds to move a single ship one square.
The last year of the game all I did was set research to 100% and hit "end turn", as producing more ships would break the game. It took 3 hours to get through the last year and all I was doing was hitting "end turn."

This does not sound like a fun way to play; it sounds like work! It is also why I've given up on gigantic maps and the Metaverse because my 3rd old system with 512MB RAM and NVidia GeForce FX5200 can't handle these games. Instead I'm playing suicide games against the AI with map settings that favor the AI (medium with normal settings) and avoiding known exploits. I'm also free to play with mods and change settings in the XML to make the AI play smarter (e.g., currently the AI ignores sensors). This is making for a much more challenging and fun game. Isn't that the point of a game! I still get the community feel by read and posting to the forums and I may even post some AARs from these games.

So, yes, laughter is in order. I managed to post a defeat game to my account and actually lowered my over all score.
That was really dumb on my part, but I still see the humor in it, luckily.

Metaverse games may be re-submitted once but only once. So you still may play that game and replace that "Defeat".

No, I haven't quit, but that last game was really, really, really boring. Playing for Metaverse scores is incredibly boring (which I have said long before this cheat flag event).

CariELF gave me the situation where I could re-play the game, but I just haven't been able to bring myself to re-play it to see if I could figure out the cheat flag.

I sent CariELF a few more save games to see if s/he could get a bit closer to the cheat flag problem, but never heard anything back.

Long before this cheat flag thing happened I had said that I thought the Metaverse game should be changed so that it is impossible to turn off the other victory conditions (Alliance, Influence, Technology).

This cheat flag incident really confirmed that belief.

I don't think I will ever play another Meteverse game, at least not under the current Metaverse set up.

So I am still playing, but not as much, and certainly not in the Metaverse.

As one poster noted, it feels like work.

I played the last Metaverse game out of curiosity. That curiosity isn't there anymore.

I still think I could post a score over a million points, but I doubt I will try as the last Cheat flag event left a bad taste in my mouth.

So I am just playing for fun now, and with the arrival of summer I am spending more time outside.

It's good to see you post. In the end playing for fun is the only way that anyone keeps playing.

I do want to point out that there are divisions in the AltMeta dedicated to non-military victories (Alliance, Influence, Technology) in various size galaxies. The point of these divisions, brackets, classes (whatever you want to call them) is to provide a place where people can play the type of game that they prefer yet still have a place to compete on an even footing with others that play similar types of games. I would suggest that you at least check it out.

The AltMeta Class Beta thread provides some explaination of how the AltMeta works and the motivation behind it. Also the AltMeta Help Desk is where you can get any questions about the AltMeta answered and can ask to be added to the list of characters.

In any case the AltMeta is certainly a different set up than the "official" metaverse. It is by no means perfect nor does it address every issue and concern that you've pointed out but it does address some of them and our goal is to improve upon it over time based on player feedback. Even so it may still not be your cup of tea. There's nothing wrong with that. As I said if you aren't playing for fun then you won't be playing very long any way. But please do at least give the AltMeta a look see.

Also regardless of anything else please keep in touch with folks here at these forums.

I sent CariELF a few more save games

Hmm...I never got them or I would have replied. The mail server or junk mail filters might have eaten your e-mail.

Oh, and for future reference, I am female.
