Morale and Approval (and Loyalty?)

I'm a little confused by the terms "Morale" and "Approval." Are they interchangeable? It seems like the game uses one or the other term randomly. Or are they different, but related?

Loyalty, I think, is something else altogether - that's about how likely a planet is to "flip" to another side, I think. But is loyalty related to Morale/Approval?

In most cases, yes. The only difference, if any, would be the global average vs the level on a particular planet.

Loyalty is not related to morale; it just makes planets less likely to fail their resist rolls when they are in danger of flipping (over influence ratio of 4).
