problems with games

ok i'm new here and new to any forum for that matter and i'm having a problem with objectdock. i installed OD yesterday and it was working fine until today. when i try to open dark crusade the game it opens but it is in a window not full screen. so i say well it must be set to run in a window so i check the settings and change it to run full screen. well it does come up in full screen then but with two problems- 1. there is still the blue bar at the top of the screen with an x to close the program but it won't let the mouse up there. 2. the mouse still only move within the area that the small window was in before i changed it to run full screen. mind you that yesterday everything was running fine. how do i fix this before i go crazy!!! please help a novice.

This is something that is an issue for some but not all, you have 2 choices that I know of, 1) quit OD before playing game or 2) set up another account with no customization just for gaming.

well i tried right clicking on the objectdock in a open area and clicked on quit. tried playing the game...same result. so i thought well lets uninstall the game and then reinstall...same result. now i'm stuck. your other option is a no option for me because i'm using the free version. unless you know something i don't about the free one-i know very little. so what now? maybe there is something else i can do outside of objectdock. i'm not the most skilled with computers but i know a little, i guess not enough. please help

You could try uninstalling and reinstall OD but if you had the same issue after quiting OD I am not sure what is causing it. When quit/unload OD it is not running so should not affect game play. When I said create another account I mean another Windows account, nothing to do with OD. Have an account that is completely Windows default, no customization, for playing games.

Try clearing the cache files for ObjectDock:

1 - Open 'My Computer' > Tools menu > Folder Options > View tab > select "Show hidden files and folders" > click 'Apply'.

2 - Unload ObjectDock if loaded > go to: 'C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock' folder (where 'USERNAME' is the name on your account) and delete any 'ObjectDock' folder found there.

Step#2 is the actual procedure of "Clearing the cache", which will remove any user preferences and force ObjectDock to load with the defaults.

Note - this will remove any issue that may be tied to the game dock entry in ObjectDock, but you should still unload ObjectDock before playing games due to possible 'Overlay' conflicts between ObjectDock and the game you are running.

Also, based on your comment in #5, it may be an issue tied to the game shortcut setting of 'full screen'. You might try uninstalling the game and removing any left-over game files (folders in 'Program Files' and/or files in your account - usually found in 'My Documents' or the aforementioned 'Local Settings\Application Data' folder).

Once the game is removed, as well as any left-over files, you can reinstall the game. If you have unloaded ObjectDock (and cleared it's cache files) and still experience game issues, then the fault is not likely to be a conflict between the game and ObjectDock. At this point, you will need to look elsewhere (perhaps a recently installed driver, update, or game patch).

Good luck.

you could also try updateing your graphics drivers, it might work it might not, or even look for any latest patches for your game, good luck
