Any word on 5th buttoned mice?

Any word on the integration of some sort of feature which utilizes the fourth and fifth buttons?

...Or how to re-enable the feature (I read somewhere on here that it was originally disabled).

Edit: Nevermind. I've switched to Synergy, which carries everything. Plus, there're no num-lock problems between my PC and laptop. MP's GUI is much more understandable than Synergy's, but the 4th and 5th buttons are things I use frequently. If anybody else decides that those extra buttons are a must-have, I suggest you watch this video by CNET, which explains step-by-step how to configure the software.

I'm contemplating a switch too. I love me some Stardock, but the lack of Microsoft mouse and Microsoft additional keyboard functionality on my Vista secondary is making me think it's time to look elsewhere, since it seems that there isn't much motion on Multiplicity anymore. Too bad. It's an awesome product, and money well-spent. It may just be time to move on. I'm downloading Synergy for a trial run now... I'll come home to MP once this issue is resolved!

MP 1.2 is currently in development and a beta should be going up within the next week.

Just a question, is synergy & multiplicity a software replacement for standard kvm hardware?

They do that, yes.
Multiplicity also allows for a shared clipboard.  So you can easily copy text, images, or files and paste on the other MP enabled PCs.  Very, very, sweet.

The other big lack I found with synergy was that it minimized any game when I moused over to the second machine. That limitation was a deal breaker for me. Maxivista had the same problem as well as being rather more CPU intensive. Multiplicity works well with games, and I can wait for the 5 button support so you got my money.

V 1.2 still isn't available on SDC yet, any updated ETA for a release?

Did v1.2 ever go beta? I've got the newest push 1.19 - but it doesn't seem to make a difference as far as extra mouse buttons go, or extended keyboard codes.

I've updated my setup too: I'm running Vista Ultimate on both machines now, primary and secondary. One new thing: now when I push, say, the "back" mouse button on my secondary (Vista), the host computer beeps a little beep.

Keeping hope alive!

where'd you get 1.19 from? I've got show prerelease versions checked and the latest version I see is 1.10.009 dated nov 2 2006

1.19 [beta] is available from Stardock Central.

I'm not having much luck with it though. I've downloaded a trial of KaVoom KM which is a very simple piece of software that does what Multiplicity does - without all of the options, mind you. I am going to try it out for a few days and contemplate switching. I'm testing it out on my Secondary as I write this.

Good news: Out of the box, it recognizes all the buttons on my mouse, and there is no Vista weirdness. This is a strong vote for KaVoom.

Stardock: I was having big problems with even basic functionality. To switch from my primary (Vista) to my secondary (Vista) i had to (yes, I know this sounds weird) click on my desktop 3 times before I could move over to the secondary. Coming back was no problem. I also couldn't switch if my primary was in a Remote Desktop session on another computer.

When I clicked buttons 4 and 5 on my Habu Razr mouse, the primary computer beeped - not across the speakers, but the internal system speaker - a little tiny beep.

I'd prefer not to purchase a similar product again, so I'm holding out hope that before my 45-day trial of KM expires the extra button issues are resolved in MP as well as the funkiness with my Vista setup. I'd be willing to work with StarDock developers to track it down, if they are interested!

Next challenge to KaVooM: get my Microsoft Natural Keyboard extended keys to fire... Oh no way. The CALCULATOR button works. So does the SEARCH button. Hotness. It's been months and months since those worked. One more vote for KaVooM. Maybe it's worth the $30.

Please try going to the 1.2 version now available through Stardock Central and let us know if you still have issues.

My Stardock Central does not have the new version available (still shows v 1.10.009), where can I get the new version???

I've tried 1.2 with my Microsoft Trackball Explorer (which is technically a 4-button and not a 5-button mouse) with Multiplicity 1.2 as well as the latest version on IntelliPoint (6.1) with XP boxes (both primary and secondary). Still no luck on getting the right two buttons (the 3rd and the 4th buttons) to work.

Worked for me with an XpPro primary and VistaPremium secondary, and a logitech mx610.

well it worked briefly. It stopped working an hour or two later. I'n not sure exactly when. My setup is a vistaprem secondary and an xppro primary. When it was working the vista machine had been rebooted after installing 1.2 but the XP machine had not. I since rebooted the XP machine but don't know if that was when the failure occured or not.
