Overall Usage Problems

I am by no means a "power" user of the Object Desktop. I mainly use WindowBlinds and IconPackager to make my desktop look cool. However, I'm wondering what I can get to work on my machine and how the different programs "play" together. Am I correct in assuming that if you use Desktop X, you don't really need to use WindowBlinds? WindowsFX uses a lot of CPU resources and can slow down my computer...others experience that? I like IconX, but it seems to slow my CPU down too. I was using Yahoo! Widgets (formerly Konfabulator), but have discontinued using that for better CPU performance as well. I use the free version of Object Dock ALL the time. My computer specs are: P4 3 ghz, 1 GB RAM, 60 GB internal drive with 120 GB external, ATI Radeon Video card with Win XP Pro...Sony VAIO. I find that if I use too much of Object Desktop, it screws up the speed on my machine. I'd love to use more of the cool tools, but I am inexperienced at this. Thanks for your help in advance!!!   • WB skins windows, DX doesn't.  DX does however have the ability to skin the user interface (the desktop) and create/apply "mini" applications that have their own look and feel
WindowsFX uses a lot of CPU resources and can slow down my computer...others experience that?
  • My video card isn't up to snuff when it comes to WinFX.  I only use the Minimize to tile function.
I like IconX, but it seems to slow my CPU down too.
  • I have never experiences any slow down with IconX.

yeah i mainly use just windowblinds and iconx also.and yes windowfx does use a little more cpu. I myself only have 512 of memory but,i gotta tell ya.. my system seems to run faster! honest!as far as desktop x is concerned, i still love it! it's awesome!i'm sure you'll get more responses about how they play together and how you can get the most out of your machine. you'll also find that the level of knowledge people have here is incredible!just thought i would tell you that. hey great post!
