Fog of War fix not working?

1.50X.072 and it still happens

First time poster but a long time lurker. I have gone through the various threads regarding the fog of war bug and it would seem that 1.50X.072 represented the fix to this problem. I am still experiencing this bug even with that patch in place and it is acting like the classic description of that problem as found on these same boards. Am I missing something or am I doing something wrong. I am quite sure I have 1.50X.072 installed as shown on Stardock Central. Any help would be appreciated and thank you.

Are you sure? One player already has confused the fog bug with the glare effect on the mini-map. You might also need to start a new game, if you're using a 1.5x2 save.

If you are up-to-date, the number in the lower left corner of the main menu should be 1.5x3. I tried a gigantic map myself on the new version and did not encounter any fog issues as reported by those who experienced the bug.

Start a new game...worked for me.

Usually any bug present in a cross-patched save will end up in staying there. Just one of those annoying little things that make life interesting....or frustrating.

It is definitely the fog of war. The first three sectors are completely covered and the very next sector over from my starting point is free of the effect entirely and the difference conforms to the sector borders.

Starting a new game unfortunately does not work as well.

I think Kyro has provided an explanation. I still have the 1.5X2 version of the game. The problem now becomes how do I get the 1.5X3 version. Stardock Central does not offer a new version. I have tried going into the internet options portion of the software and reloading the XML code as has been suggested in other threads but nothing new comes up. The version listed for Dark Avatar shows as 1.50X.072 which displays 1.50X2 in game. Clearly I am missing something and not making the connect on my own.

You may also need to enable pre-release versions in the View menu. But 1.50X.072 should be 1.5x3 in-game.

For what it's worth, I patched in the middle of a game the other night, and the game reloaded with the Fog turned off (I had to re-explore the foggy places to make them visible, of course, but once I dad they were normally visible).

That same thing happened to me . Star dock central would not update my game properly to the update for the fog of war fix . I had to uninstall dark avatar and completely download and reinstall it . Then it worked but before that I was getting the same issue . I dont know why Star dock central would work for some people and not others thats a strange one .

Well I tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling it from scratch. I am glad to say that it worked and now have the correct version. The strange thing about this all has been the fact the initial install was done after the update had been posted so I am not sure why I did not get the updated version in the first place.

Problem solved though. Thank you for the replies and the suggestions it proved most helpful.

Glad to hear it.
