Customization of items

I've just succeeded in replacing ControlCenter by a vertical objectbar, thanks to a very good tutorial (Creating an ObjectBar).
However, I'm not completely satisfied - I never am, of course - and would like to hear if anyone can point me in the right direction.

I preferred the drive meters in CC - is there any way of incorporating those in OB?
I love the Vista Theme Clock, but don't care much for the digital clock, although it does at least allow me to get a 24-hour version of the time - I generally don't need to be told whether it's ante or post meridiem. And I DO hate the date being the wrong way round - 3/11/2007 can't be sorted, 2007-03-11 can, but I can't choose.

Easy like pie.

Add a new plugin element
Change Plugin to SD Plugin Meter (Type 1)
Click the configure to change what you want to measure
Done!

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, with Type 1, I get a harddrive meter either with no text or with "Drive X: 7.56 GB free" and THEN the slider, which is too wide to show a significant slider. The old CC gave "X: 7.56" and a colour-coded slider.

I have seven partitions, so identification is a Good Thing.

When you configure the plugin, uncheck the box labeled "Show exact meter value as text . . . under the meter type.

You should be fine then

No, sorry, that gives me NO text at all, and the only way I can see which partition is showing is by counting through C, D, E, F, G, H and Q.

Type 2, box unchecked: Drive C: |||||
Type 2, box checked: Drive D: |||||||||||| 23%
Type 1, box unchecked: picture & long slider
Type 1, box checked: picture F: 7.30GB Free short slider

Mind you, that bar is giving me so many problems I'll probably have to abandon it and try to live with ControlCenter again. At least Virtual Desktops under CC updates the window replicas most of the time to reflect what's actually there, instead of my having to configure it every time a new window is created or closed.

OK . . one more option.
Contact support (support@stardock.com) and tell them you would like to recover a version of CC with the plug-in style you like, or the plug-in itself (sysmeter.dll).

Drop it in the SDplugin directory and see what happens.

Thanks Zubaz, I've sent a request to support, although I'm not about to hold my breath.

BTW, for a couple of years I had an odd problem with CC. Every fifth boot or so it tried to start a second CC, which crashed. I never did find out why. Now, at every boot, CC starts, but I can't stop it since it isn't in my system tray anymore. I have to use Task Manager to end the process.

right click on CC > theme editor > file > general options > startup options = run at start & hide icon
