Bug: Went from 132 BC to -2378983728 BC

I was playing a regular game on a tiny map as the Kor against some race. I was doing well with infrastructure and was coming close to winning. Then the plague came (I researched the cure). That's fine. I saw my logistics were zero. It was bad because pirates and theives were currently around and I was trying to kill them. But that wasn't the BAD part. I went from having money to being in debt. How in debt?? As many spaces for numbers as is possible to display!!! All (-) negative values!

Now I suppose I could go in and use a cheat to give me money, but I have never seen anything like this before. Anyone know what happened? I can send the saved game to support if need be.

Please send the zipped save with a description of the problem to gc2bugs@stardock.com. If you have an older save and can get the same thing to happen again by playing from it for a while, send that too with directions on how you made the bug happen (even if you just click through the turns).

I can't recreate it. darn.

I had the same thing happen to me in a game. Not that this helps the developers. I did post this under a title of "Total Game Meltdown" in bug reports. Had a few more specifics with that post that I wont bother repeating.

It was interesting to say the least. Hopefully I will have it happen again as I will save the game.

Must have been tax day.

That happens in DL as well.

Not often, and in my experience if you go back to the last save it probably won't recur.

I noticed it most if I had set the sliders to 0% Military or Social spending, so I always keep some spending (even 2-3%) in each of those. But it has happened a couple times when the sliders were all fairly equal.

Galatic Lottery

except that your money went NEGATIVE.

Someone ELSE won the galactic lottery and he had to pay.
Remember those "Jackpot"s in Dungeon Keeper 2 when some filthy monster won all your treasury money in the casino? They always ended up in torture chamber then rotting in prison until rats ate up their wretched corpses and I got back my gold.
...Something similar here, too.

Next time it happens just play it out and watch what happens to your research. I was able to research darn near a whole branch of weapons in one shot.

Sound good in theory but with no cash you cant produce ships

I've had this happen to me too. The problem went away after I quit and reloaded the game, which is something I don't like to do since influence seems to take a while to settle after loading a game, and sometimes this can lead to flips that shouldn't happen.
