Probably Acronis True Image.

I did find one very simple, free utility that did the same thing though. You might want to Google for a free disk imaging software.

ok, thanks purrball, i found this tutorial on pcstats. but do i really need to keep this second hd installed or can i remove it ? also, wouldn't it be faster to just use a usb external hd for this ?...thank you....WWW Link

Once you have cloned the hard drive you can take it out.

Using an external HD wouldn't be any faster while copying data. USB cant transport data as fast. But if you have an external USB drive it is safe if you manage to fry your system as long as you unplug it. (I wish I had one before I went and fried my HD)

The link below the 2nd paragraph will come in handy if you strike trouble with whatever app you use and you need some free help from peeps that specialise in imaging

If your primary drive has multiple partitions and you intend to image to a larger drive you'll also need a partitioning tool like norton partition magic v8.0 or something similar to resize the partitions, you'll see why when you do the image job
