DesktopX Pro and Object Desktop

Hello,

I'm interested in DesktopX Pro and I was wondering how it's connected with ObjectDesktop?
I know that the standard version is a part of ObjectDesktop.

Does this mean that a DesktopX Pro licence includes ObjectDesktop as well?
I checked the FAQ, but this question isn't answered there.

Thanks in advance,

DX-Pro is seperate from Object Desktop.  It's $70US

Nope. DesktopX Pro is just for DesktopX Pro.
ObjectDesktop is a separate program suite which includes the standard version of DX. If you want them both you need to buy them both.

Worth it though. I got that.

Hm, and there is no upgrade or something?
I know the ObjectDesktop price is pretty good, but somehow it feels strange that I can't "upgrade" to ObjectDesktop from The "Pro" version of DesktopX.

Is there a way to upgrade from standard (as in ObjectDektop) to pro?

The point is: I want two programs that are part of ObjectDesktop. So, in theory getting the complete ObjectDesktop would be the best deal for me. But if I have to buy Pro again, I'd kinda feel stupid, because I'd have to buy DesktopX twice in that case (standard as part of OD and pro just because I need it).

I now this sounds kinda cheap, and I must admit that I also do feel cheap, but I can't change it

Pro is very different from the standard though.  With it, you can create gadgets that you can sell without the user having to own DX.

You don't sound cheap, you sound responsible.

Let's go a different direction.  What do you want the Pro for? (And what is the app in ODNT that you want?)

Well, I want Pro to write a simple standalone gadget

The other app that looks interesting enough to buy it would be SkinStudio.

Some other stuff in the ObjectDesktop pack also looks nice but not nice enough to purchase them.

Right now I'd buy DesktopX pro, and ignore ObjectDesktop / SkinStudio mainly because they're just nice to have apps, while DesktopX is the application I actually want.

Somehow I was expecting a way to upgrade from "standard" to "pro" regardless of the source of the standard version.
In that case I had bought ObjectDesktop and then upgraded my version of DesktopX to pro.

You can try SKS.  I thing the trial has a nag screen and a delayed start.  Give it a shot and while you are trying SKS, take a look at the other software available for trial.  I'll bet you get hooked.

You can upgrade to Object Desktop from DesktopX for $34.95.

Isn't there a discount to upgrade fomr normal DX version nto DX Pro? So he could buy ODNT, and then upgrade to a discoutned version of DX Pro?

No, there is no upgrade discount from DX to DX Pro.  I think the best solution would be to buy DX Pro, then use the upgrade to Object Desktop.
