Help a new noob with importing ships

I know... I know do a search

I purchased Galactic Civilization II Gold Edition about a week ago and have not gotten any sleep since then. I love it. I started to download ship packs from the galciv2.com library. I have been reading post after post for the entire weekend on how to get the ships to appear in the game. I have not yet been able to get anything to work. I have downloaded many ship packs and none work. I tried the Kligon, ImperialShip pack, Kryos Hull system, LOC ship packs 1-2 and 3, Nothing shows up in my build screen. I have tried a new game with and without using the battle of the gods. I checked each file to make sure that it have an. xml and shipcfg file. They all do. I then make sure that the file name matches the race like S2 = Yor s0 = humans. etc. I tried playing different races and nothing shows up.

Maybe it how I expect the ships to show up. I am simply going to the shipyard and clicking on the templates tab. Should I see them there? I also click on new ship and nothing but the default ships show for that race. I am coping the ship pack files to \\...\My Documents\My games\Gc2DarkAvatar\Ships. Can someone help this beginner.

Hmmm...Do you have Kryo's KHSM turned on in the options tab? Some ships require different mods. Without the mod enabled you won't be able to see the imported ships at all. Everything else sounds that you are doing sounds right.

The only other thing I can think of is that the ships have to be in the folder and not in any subdirectories. In other words all the .xml and .shipcfg files can't be in any folders inside of the \...\My Documents\My games\Gc2DarkAvatar\Ships folder.

I know you said "battle of the gods" and thats not metaverse but I had that problem once when I put the ships in the metaverse ships folder giving me the same headache you are having.

Check those and see if it helps. Good Luck.

Not sure about this, but I don't think they would be under templates. But I've never used them before, so I'm not sure.

Most of those packs you mention (if you're using the metaverse version of my mod) are made for standard GC2, which used different sN_ prefixes on the .shipcfg files to specify the race they appear under than DA does. So you will need to rename them and put them in different places to use them with DA than you would with GC2. The new associations are as follows:

s0 - Terrans
s1 - Drengins
s2 - Altarians
s3 - Arceans
s4 - Torians
s5 - Yor
s6 - Korx
s7 - Drath
s8 - Thalans
s9 - Iconians
s10 - Korath
s11 - Krynn

The full version of my mod includes readmes for GC2 and DA installation, just follow them exactly and it should work. No renaming required.
