Expanding the configuration window

Can the user expand the Configuration Window in the usual Windows fashion, by dragging edges - or by any other means. On my initial installation, the size is OK, but on the next reboot and thereafter, it contracts to maybe one-half its proper size. There is no way to reach the controls, although of course there are workarounds, such as the "Advanced" window.

Can you suggest either how the window size can be altered or what could cause this contraction?

Subsequently, I used a utility (DM2) to force the window to maixmize. That failed actually to solve the problem; although the frame expanded, no new information was revealed within. That is, there was a lot of blank space around the periphery.

Here is my system information:

WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 5 (5.5 (build 92 x86))

Yeah, it would really be nice if SD made that a sizable window. Hope they'll consider it.

What's your dpi set to?

Mine is default - 96. It's just that the window can't be sized no matter what the DPI. You may remember that the System Info screen has a "window" in it that is inapparent - no borders & no scrollbar to clue you in that there is more there than you can initially see; no differentiating color to help, either. Seems an odd oversight to me.

Adjusting window size would be nice, but I would not complain about its absence. That's not my problem. Using a utility called DM2 (freeware)to expand the window failed to resolved the problem. And if the window were merely too small, I could at least access the settings that are inaccessible.

The window appears normally after I install or clean reinstall Windowblinds 5.5. After I reboot a second time, something goes wrong, some file is corrupted or some file conflicts with something else. (Later turning off extensions doesn't bring it back though). I've seen similar problems when two versions of a program remain on disk and end up getting accessed somehow at the same time. I did several different thorough checks of my disk. I thought that perhaps a conflict occurred with StyleXP, whose service was running. But uninstalling StyleXP and rebooting doesn't resolved the problem, which makes the advanced settings inaccessible for System overrides, allows switching skin only through advanced settings, and does not allow display of more than one wallpaper at a time. Again, everything works normally immediately after installing.

did you restore your original theme dll when uninstalling StyleXP?

No. I don't even know how to do that. Are you saying that StyleXP removes something that WB 5.5 needs, although the native Windows XP (Luna) ard Classic appearances work fine? Even though Windowblinds 5.5 itself works fine, except for the problem with its own interface?

Just to make a record in case anyone else gets this problem - The source of the problem was a conflict with CodeSectors DirectFolders. Turning off DF for Windowblinds solves the problem. It was not necessary to turn it off for anything else.

You got it to be resizable?

Daiwa: His problem was not that it was not resizable, it was that it was being sized to a tiny size & clipping the window.

I am guessing that app thought wbconfig was a file dialog for some reason.

10-4.

The window being a fixed size is an annoyance and potential source of misunderstanding, however. I hope you'll consider making it sizable. Barring that, making its minimum size large enough to show all the System Information on-screen would help.

Can someone spell out to me in small words how to resize the window or at least make the scroll bars show up? The configuration window is cut off on the very bottom and for some reason the scrollbars don't show. I'm sorry if someone already posted the answer, but I can't seem to figure it out.

The answer is: no scrollbars show up & the window is a fixed size; nothing you can do about it. Until SD changes it, anyway.

it would be nice if the window could be made taller and have multiple rows of skins.

Let me clarify my reply #12 -

The horizontal scrollbar for the skin list shows up fine.

It's the vertical scrollbar that fails to appear even when the contents of the System Information dialog don't fit the dialog window (which is borderless, to boot).
